Indeed. One of the few reasons why I have a credit card....deposits and internet purchases.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0 -
You can't blame people for speculating about these things IMO. These are extraordinary times. I'm assuming if someone posted a similar warning about Britain's biggest mortgage bank a year or so ago they would have been accused of unsubstantiated rumour-monging? I jhave no insider knowledge about DSG whatsoever but it's my money and i won't be spending it there. The portents just look so ominous, share price down 90%, problems with credit, an inept management and selling goods that people are holding off buying at the moment.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
If you bought an expensive tv and it broke within 6 months, you'd take to back to the retailer as your contact is with them. Denise is only trying to offer advice. DSG are on very shakey ground. If you are going to buy high priced electricals, you're better going to John Lewis for example and getting a price match.
The way to protect yourself is to pay by credit card.
John Lewis are no more safe from administration than DSG, In fact they are in more danger as they are heavily burdened by their free 3 and 5 year guarantees. Servicing cost are high and are causing concern within JLP.
maybe DSG's problems have arisen by employing store managers like Denises friend who is obviously unaware of consumer rights and lacks business acumen.0 -
Personally I can see DSG having dire problems. Right now pretty much everyone on the high street is vulnerable.
I wouldn't recommend buying the DSG shares, but if they fall any further, the group will look like a cheap way into the UK electrical market through a take-over. Best Buy, from the US, and Charles Dunstone (CPW) were planning an assault on the UK market by opening new electrical warehouses. The DSG stores would give them a quick start....they could always wait a little longer and negotiate with the administrators if they didn't want to pay a premium in a take-over.I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another, so please feel free to ignore this.0 -

Bestbuy have already realised they have made a mistake buying a 2.9% in CPW. They are in no position to expand and look to be as weak as DSG.0 -
I've been looking at the corporate bond markets and the credit default swaps market. Credit default swap (CDS) spreads measure the premium to the risk-free interest rate that a bank can expect to pay in the market for 5-year loans. The higher the CDS for any given bank, the riskier the market thinks that particular bank’s debt is.
DSG is one of the those companies with a default over 1300bps. M&S (around 500bps)and especially Tesco (around 180bps) are quite solvent. In fact, M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury and John Lewis will survive.0 -
DSG need to shrink, in many edge of town places theres a PC World and a Curry's next to each other, they need to create one store that has everything.
We all know how bad knowledge of products from staff members is in PC World and a lot of the stock could just as easily go into Currys so if they consolidated that'd solve some issues.0 -
i hope dsg go.. i hate them they are bloody idiots!0

All these people that disagree that DSG or FSGi are going under and say we are scaremongering, then pit your money where your mouth is and purchase several things from them under £100 on your cards.
Your answer would be heck no........And to the rest that said I need to substantiate my brief claims earlier, listen I am more concerned about my missus being paid than your shabby posts
Also they are the biggest conning company I know with over inflated pruces no experienced staff inclusive of my OH and prey on peoples IT iliteracy and naiveity0
