Lose Weight 24

Thank you to everyone for your advice on portion sizes! That's a good idea about the dinner plate with the bit in the middle.
My main reason for reducing portions is not to lose weight but out of sheer desperation with regards to the bloating. Weight loss would be very welcome, too, but is secondary. If my motive were just to lose weight, to be honest, I don't think I would have enough willpower. But I do want to lose weight and definitely should, so that's why I joined this thread.
It seems to be the sheer bulk of the food, not the food types, that causes the bloating - so I don't want to start stressing about protein being the size of a deck of cards or carbs being the size of a whatever. I understand everyone is different, and, personally, I find that too obsessive. For me, it's just the bulk of the meal in general (although certain foods can swell up more than others in your tummy, can't they?)
I think I am eating enough. I keep worrying I am still eating too MUCH! I ate more than a bowlful for my tea, because the vegetables fit in the bowl, but I also had a quorn mince pie and a slice of bread. I didn't get bloaty, though. Before tea I was feeling really faint and ill, like I had the flu or was going to collapse, and I started to worry it was due to not eating enough. But then my husband remarked I had done my first skipping session at four o'clock and not eaten anything after it except a pear. Doh! I always eat a square meal after jogging and forgot it would apply to skipping, too! From now on I will plan my skipping sessions just before a meal!
Anyway sorry for typing so much. It's just nice to have someone to talk to!0 -
Hi all
I've been at work all day and just logged on after tea. Eek  , sorry Marion, Victory and anyone else who got any sadness from the earlier enthusiasm for the HHE.
Thank you big time to Bails, who I think (as she often does) put everything into context and I love the idea of calling it HHA - because after a long day at work, just heaving myself off the settee to do a bit of tidying is more 'exercise' than I might otherwise do.
Thank you to to BB, Dragon and Serendiglair for your understanding.
I haven't always been into exercise and didn't start until I had lost my weight. My weight loss might have been faster if I had done both at the same time - but it didn't suit me at the time to do it that way. I struggle to 'make' the time to exercise and have found the support of nnm, Annie, missy, etc really helpful to encourage me to do more. That little call of HHE Anyone helps me to log off and move around a bit.
So, thank you everyone for agreeing that it is okay to continue, you're all brilliant :A
Buttonmoons, I am trying to work on my 'wobbly bits' at the moment especially the thighs - the RC Toning exercises that I follow are helping (I think). Most of them are done in the horizontal position - suits me just fineI got my exercises from a book. There is one for back of thighs, buttocks, front of thighs, inner thighs and outer thighs - I think that just about covers them - I'll post details later - need to refer to the book to get the description right.
Chopandchange - I got a skipping rope when I signed up for the RC Magazine - turned out to be more of a whipping rope - made of solid plastic - but extremely tiring - when I was a kid I could skip for hours - not now though. An occasional HHA of skipping might be do-able, although I would have to do it outside - the neighbours will think I've lost it if I go skipping in the dark - but whoever said that matters
I also used to dish up my food on my DS's old melamine Thomas the Tank Engine plate - really helped on portion control - too much just would not fit on :rotfl:

My OH had really bad bloating issues, sometimes his stomach got so huge it really did look like it would burst. What helped him and don't laugh was one of those slimming belts, he used it a couple of times and he didn't get bloated after that for months. He can't do exercise due to severe pain in his back and neck so the belt was the only option. Also check if its just eating too much or eating something that doesn't agree with you. I know my OH gets worse when eating spicy food, but at its worst a banana would bloat him out. Maybe you have IBS? might be worth seeing your doctor if it doesn't improve.
BB, thank you
Chop, skipping is very good for burning calories :j i find i get bored easily too so thats why i'm doing different Workout DVD's having someone to tell me "5 more" really helps, plus i like seeing them struggle too :rotfl:

Must admit all the HHE's did cheese me off slightly but tried to make a joke of it with the HHSS.
Its hard to take on boards peeps enthuisiasm when you struggle to walk 2 mins along the road.
So Marian & Victory you were not alone.
Anyway onwards & upwards.

Hellooooo! I realised just now I didn't post on here on Friday - last week I lost 4 lb!
I've got the worst PMT muchies today, but I have been stubborn and ate a load of cherries and 2 muler lights instead! And I've also even cut out my sugar in my tea, and gone back to black coffee with sweetners.
I was good like this for about 6 years last week, then I got bored and crumbled, I MUST make sure I stick at it this time. I want to be in a size 10 bikini by the time I go Turkey in July!
While I'm rabbiting on about my motivation, what is yours?Baby Mazza due New Years Day 2013!0 -
Bad day at work today so I feel like eating the world adn then some. I;m not hungry just NEED to eat! But......I've been fairly good. SO as a treat I am going to allow myself a toasted bagel with BUTTER!!!
I haven't done any exercise today as I've been at work, but as I work in a shop I;ve been on my feet running around for 4 hours and then sorting the kids out and dinner etc etc.....
Oh, and as far as the healthy, friendly debate on the exercise front..... I normally hate exercise but I realise that the only way for me personally to loose weight and keep it off is to burn the calories not just eat less. Everyone is different. Thats what make life fun!:j
And I STILL ache from my moment of beach madness on Saturday!! If it make anyone feel any better, have a good laugh at me! It took me ages to get out of the car after work cos my legs had seized up and I looked a right bloody idiot at the school gates!
Im off to indulge a bit, see you all tomorrow!sealed pot challange #572!Garden fund - £0!!:D£0/£10k0 -

I work in an office (mostly) and today I have done so many trips from my desk at one end of the office to the printer, I must have covered miles - don't know if my colleagues have noticed my 'power walking' :rotfl:
