    Hi!

I feel a bit sad today... I started dieting 2 days ago and already I have major sugar and carb cravings which I get whe I try and go on a diet, which is why they fail! I'm not hungry, but hungry for the wrong stuff.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person to feel this way as surely if it was this hard no one else would suceed? I know thats not the case, which just makes me think I am weak!

How do I get through this difficult time? My fella is hiding as I keep biting his head off, and I'd literally murder for a bit of choccy or pizza right now!

  • HHE Result: 30 mins RC Toning Exercises (this includes warm up, aerobic and warm down - but more focussed on the toning - 'cos that's where I need to concentrate.)

Poor old pooch will be glad I go back to work tomorrow - she's crashed out in the dining room protected by OH after a 30 minute pull round the streets by me :rotfl: . Squeezed it in between 3.15 and 3.45, only just got back in time for the HHE, couldn't be bothered to dismantle the tree and shove it up in the loft - p'raps later - hence the RC instead - but probably more effective anyway.

Missy, I'll join you at the end of March to review my resolutions, although the 'no chocolate' one might be relaxed once I've got back to my happy number (although not sure because it is one of my worst areas for falling down), the more exercise should probably be made a bit more specific (I'll think a bit on that one), but the bed before midnight one must stay - I know I will feel better for it.

I read anything linked to weight gain and the reasons for it - not sure I'll ever work it out for me completely - but they do say that people are often 'heavier' if they skip breakfast and go to bed late. I've always eaten breakfast but late nights are a major downfall - I think the problem is you have more time to eat (because you are awake - and usually infront of the TV) and the next day you feel more tired and less like exercise - just my thoughts.

Hi Mazza1985 - it is not easy which is why it is such an achievement when we reach our goals.

How are you 'dieting'? There has been more 'research, studies, etc' into the low GI dieting so that you feel fuller for longer and don't get the high and low crashes from high GI foods.

If you can stabilise your blood sugar you won't get the 'cravings' so much.

Chocolate has always been a downfall for me, so I know what you mean. I can eat a whole box without being hungry - but just because they are there - my 'cure' for this is to go cold turkey - it's not easy but works for me - I really struggle to just have one or two.

Are you 'meal planning'? It helps me to know that I have breakfast, lunch and dinner with 2 snacks mid morning and mid afternoon - with an extra bowl of porridge in the evening to tide me over until the morning. I do try not to go more than 3 hours without something - so generally: 7am porridge, 10am banana, 12 noon couscous/sandwich apple, 3pm piece of fruit, 6pm dinner, 9pm porridge.

Keep posting and if we can help on here we will.

    FFM :)

Well i enjoyed that HHE, the core stability workout was very relaxing, it gave my legs a good stretch and they don't ache as much now :j It would be a good one to do at night just to relax and chill :) On the DVD Davina says you only need to do each workout once a week, so we should all look like Davina soon with the amount we are doing :rotfl:

Everyone: I will be reviewing my 6-monthly exercise objectives at the end of March (I set these for myself on 1 September). I was wondering if anyone would like to join me on that day and formally review progress on any resolutions/targets/goals you're making now?

I'll join in with you on that, i'm hoping to be much nearer my target weight by then.

I back up what FFM Says Mazza - have you got any low GI snack stuff to keep the blood sugar steady? It's boring but a slow release food such as brown rice/wholemeal grains/porridge etc are much better at keeping the blood sugar steady so not so many moods. I also get massively hungry when my blood sugar falls so that's another reason for me to stay GI friendly!
Missy - I will review my revolutions and exercise goals with you and others in March. My exercise plan is:
to keep going to the gym twice a week with Darren the PT,
    Aquafit once a week
and one good walk a day with Tod the Dog (2 if possible) - a good walk being at least 1.5 miles.
One of my other goal for this year is to dig out my yoga dvds and try to do that twice a week.
    Hey ho.
Have just taken down the Christmas tree and put everything back in their little boxes and heaved the new artificial tree (8ft!!) upstairs and managed to fit it in a cupboard space under a beam..... maybe that would count as my HHE lol!
    Happy Sunday everyone.

Here is something from the tescodiets site about GI snacks.....

    Snacks
Three low Gi snacks a day require a little planning and we list some suggestions below. Try and eat balanced snacks, i.e. those containing some carbs, fat and protein. This is particularly important if you are concerned about your blood sugar levels, especially if you have, or are at risk of having; type 2 diabetes.

    Snack Suggestions:
    Nuts – almonds, hazelnuts
Fresh fruit – apple, orange, Grapefruit
Vegetables – celery, carrots, sliced peppers
    Soy nuts
Low-fat dairy foods – cottage cheese, soft cheese (Laughing Cow), yoghurt
    Nutrition bars
High bran cereals – All Bran, porridge

Make things easy by simply carrying over food items from your meal plan to have as additional snacks during the day.

    Hope it helps!

Just finished 30 mins walk with the dog, blinking cold out there.
    HHE achieved today:j

Mazza - you're probably having withdrawal from sugar. Keep going drink lots of water and do something instead of thinking about food, walk the dog, exercise, grab the fella and head upstairs!!, anything to keep your mind off food.

Friend offered to lend me the Davina DVD so I will give it a go as hubby said it will play on the laptop fine and it has a big screen.
  • awww, thanks for the flowers granny. Consider yourself restarted.
Thanks for various goodwishes. Bit of a wreck today & feel like I've been trampled by a herd of wilderbeest, & subsequently prone to blubbing over nothing, but at least I know it so am ignoring myself as much as possible. Desparately wanting large quantities of biscuits to aid recovery. So far I have resisted as can't face the strenuous journey to the corner shop 2 mins away & can't [strike]order [/strike]politely ask OH to go as he isn't here:D
lesley - echinaecia wouldn't be much good as I am on mega strong immune suppressants for a reason, so no point trying to hike the immunity, if you see what I mean, but thanks for the thought, always worth mentioning ideas.

Having a green day as seem to need comforting carbs and drinking tea for england. Measuring my tea milk in a little 30ml measuring glass so I don't go over my HEA allowance. Hoping the resultant virtuous glow over comes the afforementions sugar lust.
    happy birthday raph chairspin.gif.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

You know, I feel so relieved, I thought I was going mad!

I've been eating natural yoghurt when I feel actuall hunger- but I am still craving sugar! At least I know it will probably get easier with time.

I think that I will have to go cold turkey too, I can't eat just 1 or 2 squares of chocolate, it always ends up one or 2 bars!

Im gonna stack up on brown pasta and the such I think. I have been planning my meals. For example, today I had special k (not the best I know but Im working on it!) for breakfast today, then vegetarian raveoli on wholemeal toast, for a snack this afternoon I had yoghurt with honey and banana, and for tea I am having baby potatoes, with some veg and gravey. So I've made sure I've got healthier food in the house, but my fella is a postman and eats like a horse (which is why Im now a size 14 and trying to change that) and so there is so much rubbish in the house! THAT is what I'm going to find tough!
