hope things are looking up beanie and you're out and about on the trike soon.

marion, post a pic of charlie's new haircut, i need to knows whats in this season.

Will do kpc, my daughter has gone up to London with her Swedish friend and they have borrowed my camera so will do it when she gets back later today. It was wonderful at the groomers, she does them in her home and also boards them when you go on holiday. But she only does Bichons and when I arrived there were 5 adorable Bichons all running around and smiling at me - heaven. Each one was cuter then the next and I wanted to pick them all up and take them home with me, but settled on leaving with the guy I came with (Charlie):rotfl::rotfl:

    Morning!

Hope we're all doing well today. The weather is certainly milder here now - the last of the snow finally melted yesterday. I even got washing out on the line and it dried!! A first this year I think.

Right, I have a stack of ironing to go get done now. Will report back later.

sarymclary - I love your postings, always to the point and well thought out. Thank you for being part of this group:T:T:A

    hey guys!!

    how are we all?

if anyone feels they are overeating, i think im overtaking everyone! ive had a chinese, harvester, beef (never have beef) chocolate, bacon sarnies ect. Im just reeling it all in!

Feel bad about valentines because when i came home on saturday night there was a vase full of roses outside the front door and 2 balloons tied to it with a note pushed into the door. It was the best surprise!

Victory: peoples comments are always the worst. Sadly i was fattest in my teens when no one of that age really thinks before they talk. Alot of asda shoppers are common chavs and that you are not :p

    Marion: Can i come!!!!!!!!!

Of course you can. We have booked a 3 bedroom luxery apartment that sleeps 8 and so far there are only 5 of us going - that leaves room for 3 (have to share a bed though:D - no funny stuff guaranteed!)

I'm trying to keep on track with food but I honestly think I need to see a counsellor or someone who can explain to me why I have to devour everything in sight and have no restraint. Has anyone else ever been to see anyone and if so, how did it go?

Simbalou, my best friend saw a food counsellor for a year due to her inability to curb her cravings, especially when she wasn't on a strict eating plan. She's had some big weightloss successes, 5st, 6st, 7st at a time, but it always has gone back on. She's done Slimming World, Rosemary C, Cambridge Diet, Lighterlife, and Go Lower. All have had big weightloss results, but with all of them she piled the weight back on almost as soon as she put herself into a real-life, non diet situation. As soon as she fell off the wagon, it was nigh on impossible to get back on again, until too much weight had piled back on. She can also gain weight really quickly, half a stone a week when she's totally out of control. Her food counsellor tried to get her to recognise her trigger points, and to try to control them. She was diagnosed as being a carb addict, which meant she had to follow a low carb, low sugar diet, but she wasn't allowed to 'diet', if you see what I mean, because of all the yo-yo-ing she'd done. Her body was used to it, and was just waiting for the next starvation/feeding sessions to happen. She wanted to aim for for her to maintain, but at 18stone, she wasn't happy with that in the end. The sessions cost about £40 each, so it was quite expensive, as the counsellor seemed to insist on weekly meets.

Were you aware that there is an organisation called 'Overeaters Anonymous'? My friend also went to a meeting in London there, although she lives in the north/west. I did a search, and found their site here: http://www.oagb.org.uk/ I don't know how they work, but it's worth a peruse I guess.

I know that when my friend first met her counsellor, she had to spend the 1st week noting down exactly what she ate, when she ate it, her mood at the time, etc. I think this was to see if there were certain triggers for her to eat. As it turned out, she ate when happy, sad, delighted, depressed, excited, scared, etc. She just ate! I have to say she can easily eat me under the table, and doesn't seem to get that so full up I'm gonna be sick feeling, and if she knows there's a treat in the cupboard, she has to eat it - even if it is meant to be for the kids! I do have the discipline to never touch the kids stuff, but she's a devil for it. She even asks to try their food, when they're eating their dinner! My boys get really annoyed by it, but it's her compulsion to eat that is driving her, and in relaxed company, she can't help herself. When she's dieting, she has willpower of iron, and is succesful.

What she did realise was that food was her constant in life. It was there to support her during the bad times, and to enjoy during the good times. It had always been there for her. She discovered that a major factor seemed to be the impact her mother has/was having on her. In a way she was nurturing herself, because she felt she'd lacked it from her mum. In essence, the over-eating was a symptom of a lack of love.

She ended up ditching the counsellor in the end because she wouldn't let her go 'on a diet', but wasn't losing weight following the plan with the counsellor of complex carbs, high protein, etc, and basically felt like a cash cow. She's following those eating principles now, but using a diet plan for weightloss. She's at over 2 stone lost now, and it's coming off much slower than previous diets, but she's hoping it will stay off, and be more of a diet for life, rather than for now.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

I wouldn't say your eating has got out of control, it just needs to be reigned in a tad that is all, I am with you on the comments, I get them al lthe time even from complete strangers the other day at Asda when I was buying a ready meal WW they told me in no uncertain terms that I was not to eat it because I did not need to:rolleyes: one teenager practically reduced me to tears with the long speech of 'how big do you think you are, why are you eating that, why don't you buy a whole chicken and eat that instead? etc'

That really keeps me going my clothes, apart from one pair of huge black trousers that I kept the rest is all gone and there is no way I am buying a bigger size:D as for the choc go dark, no added sugar angel delight in choc, one biscuit is 82 cals macvities, work it off if you have to;)

I've never had a complete stranger tell me what I should/shouldn't eat/buy - not sure what I would do if they tried  How awful.

I've kept my biggest pair of black trousers too - I never want to go back there.

    Thanks :D

Can I join you on this thread please? I am a 43 year old mother of 3 teenagers, 2 sons aged 16 and 19 and a daughter aged 13. I am 13 stone 10 pounds and 5ft 4. Ideally I would like to weigh 9 stone, but I want to do it healthily.

I started eating healthily last week and have already lost 3 pounds but want to join in with some like minded people to increase my will power and help each other along the way.

I have a gym assessment next week and then will have 2-3 sessions a week on the treadmill, swimming etc

Welcome JFC and all other newbies, help/support/kick up the bum is what we do :T Good luck with your gym assessment next week. Will you be doing other exercise like Wii fit, etc or is it just the gym?

  • nmm, thanks for the invite, but the timing's a bit out. However, I will be doing my HHA at 6pm as I have another riding lesson - they are such good fun, not physically tiring yet as I am only at the walking/trotting stage.

Guess what I've also just been and done? Joined the gym - 6 weeks for £60, that should see me until the better weather. If I enjoy it, the full membership is £42 per month.

JFC - hello and welcome :hello: I'm about to go back to the gym after many years away, I wasted previous memberships by not attending - not at all MSE. I've already booked myself in for Aqua Fit tomorrow night and Spin Thursday morning (7am  - but I do love cycling so am already looking forward to it)

  • hmmm, it seems that every woman i know says that their oh takes them for granted and the girls do all the housework. myself, i've given up fighting - it's easier in the long run to just do the chores than fight, cry, and then do them anyway. I do think it's a myth that you can have it all. I've had to learn to accept that my house doens't always look the way i want it; but there's no way oh will ever see that it needs doing. it's not like he even does the diy either, i do that too! and wash the car( but it is my car. and my house. i'm not good at sharing)
