Jingle Bells Batman smells Robin flew away!

just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hope you all enjoy a good slap up feed!

I'll be back to the thread good n proper in the New Year as Santa's bringing us a new modem router.
    Weight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j
  • Shiny new thread - that's great as it will give me the impetus I need to stay healthy over the next few days.
Love the stories about other rubbish-eaters.
Just back from work so I'm free now til Monday! Offered everyone sherry/ginger wine and mince pies this morning. Tim my OH was in so much trouble as I went to get the mince pies and there were only 2 left.....he didin't realise I was taking them to work! Our cleaner was singing 'who ate all the pies??' - it really made me laugh. I had to ask my mum to go and get some and bring them in!
NO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........
  • Hi everyone

I've been MIA for quite some time now due to various reasons, but have lost 22 lbs since July so am quite happy, although I still need to lose at least another 42 lbs, but it's a start.

Am looking forward to a new year, getting to the gym more often, and eating healthier to not only look better, but also feel a lot better, hoping my back will get better and am slowly getting to grips with my new gluten and wheat free diet, it's great, starting to learn so much about it, just as well I love cooking and baking, so can make my own stuff cheaply and it tastes so much better when HM.

    Merry xmas everyone.

    Cheers
    Casper

Welcome Xaviera! Snap about the swimming lessons! I want to improve too. I'm on a waiting list for a course in January but I think I would have heard by now if I'd got in :( When do you start yours?

Hello again Casper! I recognise your avatar from before even though I don't know who it is :o Good to hear you've been doing so well!

I promised to write down my list of child-friendly exercise stuff, so here it is. This is all stuff we have done before and/or are still doing :) Always looking for more ideas by the way if anyone has some :D

I know not all of it is cheap/free, but I consider it money well spent :)

    Child-friendly activities
    • Home gym machine(s) - it doesn't have to be big and bulky, there are folding machines or ones with very small 'footprint' (I kitted out my home gym by ebaying unwanted stuff, and I got one piece from freecycle too)
    • You can get a good home workout with: dumbells, stretch/rowing band, wii fit, skipping rope, hula hoop, dance, stair climbing, step - plus press ups, crunches etc.
    • DVDs - I've had some success by getting my son his own personal workout mat (£4 or so from Argos) and getting him to join in. Otherwise I get him to watch me and tell me if I'm 'doing it wrong'!
    • Cycling (if old enough), inline skating, scooters (he scoots, I run).
    • Take them to the park to play footie, tennis, mini golf, badminton. Or let them play where you can see them while you run laps.
    • Take their friends to the park and when other parents return the favour, use that time for your exercise (same as when they go to other kids parties or on playdates etc).
    • Tenpin bowling, ice skating, laserquest - look for the cheap days (it's Mondays for us).
    • Walking - call it a nature trail and make it a game, get them to collect different types of leaves, spot animals, let them use a digital camera, set them challenges/checklists of things to see.
    • Enrol them in a local sports club, walk them there & back and use the time they're there for your own exercise.
    • Do an exercise star chart/logbook for everyone :) Get them to include what they do in PE at school to help fill it up.
  • MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!

  • Wow Missy, that is really good!!! Should be pinned somewhere methinks!!!

Well - we got a Wii Fit for Xmas, do you think that might help me bearing in mind I do no exercise at all?
    Start Date: 27/11/2010
    Padding: Day 42
    Target £8000
    Amount: £562.23
  • PS - I have also lost a filling late last night. It doesn't hurt in that I am screaming to see an emergency dentist but if I chew anything on that side, then it throbs and I get shooting pains....so....the only cure is by not eating anything. It's not too bad with proper food but the other side is sensitive so I can't chew chocolate or anything sugary, so now I can't chew anything chocolatey or sugary on the otherside....a blessing in disguise maybe? LOL

  • Happy Christmas Day everyone.

Hope everyone is having a great day, sorry to hear about the filling IF, but probably good for weight control.

Did anyone get any great presents? DS got a Powerball which is really good fun but my hands ache now (should have peeled the veg first), if you want to see one of these in action go on You Tube and type in Powerball - hillarious. Should help with my arm 'definition', bit scrawny at the moment and wouldn't miss a bit of toning up - might lose the bingo wings.

A rather annoying 'addition' to the computer is this mouse that cycles as you type, so the faster you type the faster he cycles - I shall have to go onto my own laptop soon before I bash him.

So far today I have only had 2 mince pies that count as naughty. Last night a had a minor binge on the tins of Roses and Quality Street (600 cals of naughtiness - ho hum - it is Christmas). BB and I should share these tins 'cos I hate the orange and strawberry creams.

Bye for now, off to grapple the turkey - it weighs more than me :rotfl:
