    I apologise!
  • Please see my post above, which I edited before you replied.

I explained that when I signed up for AOL broadband services, changing from AOL dial up, my router was delivered promptly. At that point in time, I was an avid user of the internet, rather too much if i must say, and the price I was paying was 'average' for customers on AOL.

I don't really understand what your problem is, or why you have to be rather rude towards me, as I wasn't offering any 'advice' to anyone in the other thread. The original posted asked if anyone had any problems on receiving their router, and as stated in my reply, no, i had not. I also mentioned that I had no problems with AOL after you branded them 'rubbish'.

There are two sides to every coin, and If you're entitled to bash your opinions around about how 'rubbish' AOL are, then I'm more than entitled to tell you my opinion that I think they aren't.

You should have given us a chance to get back to you I think I could have bettered that deal for you.

However, as you are happy with AOL anyway then there was no need to leave I guess and you are now paying less.

this thread is really helping me.I've been with AOL forever as well and I pay £18 a month, plus £11 to BT line rental. I am swotting up on these posts while I work up the nerve to phone aol.... but need check my exchange first I suppose as I live out in the wilds.

ok been into that exchange checker site, it says my exchange has nothing at all apart fr BTbroadband. ASDL is the only green tick I have. No nothing else at all. SO if I phone AOL I need to say I'm thinking of going over to BT..
  • please remember that if you agree to a new price with AOL the contract will start again for 18 months and if you try to change they will fine you - I rang them 18 months ago for a MAC ccode as we were thinking of changing to SKY and they offered me the same service that I had been paying 29.99 a month for 9.99 - the level of service has since plummeted and is so slow at times that I wanted to change - but cannot do so until Jan 12th 2009 - roll on - AOL is totally shocking at the moment
    Titch :)
  • Janey, they explain this when you take out a new contract, its the same with every ISP I assume, so you are liable to be charged if you leave before hand... They ALWAYS explain this and it is in their T+C, so really, you should know before hand...

It's also a 12 month contract, not an 18, or at least thats what ive been given. Mine is solid until Jan 2010, i only changed over at the end of this month.

AOLs level of service is second to none in my humble opinion... YES you get through to an indian call centre, but you can ask to be transfered to the Irish one in Waterford... They are always on hand to help and are extremely good at getting the price down should you be unhappy.

29.99 is an old price for platinum i think, you can get them down to around 9.99 now though. But you only have to wait for another few days before you can change again, so why are you moaning?
