  • unless I'm missing something, your exchange lists talktalk (cpw) as LLU, cpw own AOL so you should be able to get their cheap tarriffs. else go to talktalk, I imagine the same service as you are getting now (but cheaper).
just ask for a mac and tell 'em you're off to talktalk for £6.49/month

  • With talk talk though, don't i need to get the line rental with it too? I see no packages on the website for broadband only.

Sorry to be a royal pain in the !!!! about this, im just trying to cut costs where possible!

  • not sure, I really wouldn't consider either of them for myself (aol or talktalk) but you seem happy enough with the service you've received, and price, rather than QOS seems to be the deciding factor...?
I certainly wouldn't give my phone line to either of them!

  • Just spoke to a lady on the phone from AOL and she told me that my exchange, while is listed as talktalk, has nothing to do with AOL and so the packages available online are nothing to do with them.

Looks like I'm off to the cancellations dept. to get my MAC code :D

is o2 listed as an llu operator on your exchange?

If you have an o2 phone you can get an unlimitedpackage for as little as £7.34 per month (broadband only doesn't include line rental with BT etc)
    Waddle you do eh?

The Plusnet 2GB is probably best. there is no fixed contract, you can quit with 1 month notice. Plus if you go over 2 GB you can choose to pay for more 1GB at a time. They warn you if you are nearly at your limit.
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !
  • Nope, just talk talk.

I think I'm all sorted anyhoo!

I rang up AOL to request a MAC code, and spoke to a lovely chap who asked me why, I explained I had seen an offer online for £12.67 [eclipse broadband], and he said as we've been a customer since 2001, he would happily reduce our package to 40GB usage, 8mb speeds at 11.99 [£12 effectively].

Thank you so much guys for letting me know about the LLU thing, i sounded like I knew something on the phone which maybe helped? i dont know, either way, I've just shaved £13 off my broadband :D

    xx

You should have given us a chance to get back to you I think I could have bettered that deal for you.

However, as you are happy with AOL anyway then there was no need to leave I guess and you are now paying less.

  • did you get the 24/7 calls thrown in
