I'm in a quandary booked 2 family rooms in the last sale for City Road 4th-7th Jan. Now part of my party isn’t going so it's just me and 2 children.

Do I take the risk of selling my surplus room on ebay or let the kids have their own room when we're there?
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

If anyone is interested, have a look at this page which goes into what's covered and what isnt.
    http://www.travelodge.co.uk/refund_cover/index.php

The bit that caught my eye was this section relating to vehicle break down.

"Cover is provided if you cannot reach the Travelodge you have booked to stay in due to the vehicle in which are traveling being directly involved in an accident or suffering a mechanical breakdown.
    Significant Exclusions:

    Cover is not provided if:
    You have allowed insufficient time to reach the Travelodge at or before the recommended check in time;
You cannot provide evidence that any recovery or repair to your vehicle was made by a recognised breakdown organization; or
You are already a member of a breakdown organisation."

now is it just me, or are the last 2 exclusions contradictory, unfair... and possibly because of that render the policy null and void in law?

ie. if you break down they require proof from a recognised breakdown organization that you did indeed break down.

and yet the next line says you are excluded from the policy if you *are* already a member of a breakdown organisation.
This is of interest to me, as I booked a couple of £9 rooms for 2 nights, for both myself and a friend.... but wasnt able to clear it with friend if theyd be able to make use of them. So took out the insurance just in case.

It turns out that said friend likely wont be able to use room, and from reading the small print, the insurance seems next to useless, even if he were to conveniently "break down" (and I dont really wish death or serious injury on him for the other parts of the policy to kick in!)

    hmmm.

anyone know what travelodge's policy is on transferring rooms?? Im guessing its a no-no!

I had a change of plans recently due to change of airport - called Travelodge insurance and not covered so cancelled the policy as within 14 days.
I then called the Travelodge and told them I had booked but forgotten to tick the box booking for someone else and they said as long as the person has the booking number and name it would be fine.
Ebay it no problem but would call the Travelodge first ;-).

Yep. Happens all the time...........the £9 ones have been taken fairly recently and the page is not yet up to date.

I am really happy, it took hours but have a week in August in stratford upon avon. The site does drive me mad, but stick at it and you eventually get there. Where else could I stay for £54 for the whole family for a whole week in August bank holiday
Always on the hunt for a bargain
  • Ive always taken up these offers, I love taking the Partner away somewhere different and this makes it work. Just bought a couple of nights at Brighton!

Thanks for that. I can give booking confirmation to my parents as I forgot to check the box again after having been kicked out of the busy site yesterday and the checked boxes cleared themselves in all the chaos.

Trust me to get a birthday present wrong!
  • I've after some cheap weekends away. Can anyone recommend some very central Travelodges please? These are the places I'd like to try.

    Edinburgh
    Somerset
Ireland (anywhere where it's central enough to travel about by foot)

The plan is to see the country with my American friend. Any ideas?

I stayed at Bath Waterside (Somerset) a few weeks ago and found it excellent for leaving the car and being able to be in the main shopping area within 10 minutes. Bath is a really lovely town and feels so different to many other high streets. It is one of the few Travel Lodges with full cooked breakfast options within the hotel.

I can't help with where you want to go but can confirm that Cardiff Central Travelodge is very central also close to the Central Train Station and shops.

Plymouth (Derrys Cross) as well - although that is further away from the train station but the accommodation is very close to the shops, Theatre Royal and Plymouth Pavilions.

Burford Cotswolds is also central to the town for walking but you will be best with a car to get there and for sightseeing as he town is nice but relatively small.
