But a room for £19 is still very good value! Its just you have been beaten to it for the £9 ones.
I was up at 6:25 tried for 1.5 hours and finally manged to get 3 £9 rooms in August after many attempts.
I couldnt get any £9 ones in the May half term near where we wanted to go but got 2 £19 which for a family of 4 is good.

If it were 19, I'd be really happy, it's £29 :) Sorry, bit unclear of me, it's all this refreshing frying my brain I think. Must seem daft but the only reason I can go is if I have a £9 room, haven't been on holiday in years, but have a stupidly tight budget. The train will be a lot from my neck of the woods, even with super super super saver tickets :)
Thanks terry, will click thanks when I finish typing, truly a help! :j

I managed to 'bag' the room I wanted at 05:15 this morning. Job done  (and then I went out walking for the day)
  • No luck, after ages trying and finally getting through, they want £91 for a Wed in June in Sunderland.
    I've given up.
  • I can't get on the site, wouldn't even mind a £29 room either.... shall keep trying

You have made a wise decision! For £91 you could buy the whole of Sunderland, never mind a Wed in a travelodge!!

Aghhhh. Bought the room for my parents and it kicked me out during booking process (loads of times). When I went back in I didn't check the 'someone else staying box' again and it had cleared. I could kick myself - I noticed the breakfasts and changed those but was rushing to try and get the booking done due to being kicked out so many times.

    Ggggrrrrrr

After much clicking and refreshing for the best part of today, I managed to book three week long breaks in central London. Most, but not all, of the rooms were £9. Very pleased. Persistence pays off.
  • Ny suggestions as to which would be the best London ones? Am hoping to be up early to get these!

The local suburbs can be good points with train, bus or tube ride into London. Kingston upon Thames is a great place (no tube) and there is a 2nd Travelodge being built round corner from its existing central one. Tolworth Travelodge is a short bus ride away from Kingston/Surbiton with a nearby BR station to Waterloo. (tho' Surbiton BR is quickest, with many more fast trains- ie 15-25 mins to Waterloo c.f. 25-40 mins at Kingston and Tolworth). Also see www.tfl.gov.uk for london transport. All are handy for Richmond and Wimbledon too.
  • I just booked for 3 kids, 2 adults (2 family rooms) for an overnight stay in London at the start of the summer holidays, including additional cost for breakfast it was £31.50!!!!!! The breakfast alone would be nearly that much for 5 of us in some places!!!! Thats just what they need in the summer holidays when they're bored, a few museums, etc. :j

  • Think it's a bit more harsh than that. You have to have broken down, been struck with illness, dead, or have a family member inperil for it to be ok. The terms seem to think so, I had a read on a particularly dull day ;) Train cancellation is the same :) eesh!
So any luck? If I see server busy one more time my eyes will pop!!!!

If anyone is interested, have a look at this page which goes into what's covered and what isnt.
    http://www.travelodge.co.uk/refund_cover/index.php

The bit that caught my eye was this section relating to vehicle break down.

"Cover is provided if you cannot reach the Travelodge you have booked to stay in due to the vehicle in which are traveling being directly involved in an accident or suffering a mechanical breakdown.
    Significant Exclusions:

    Cover is not provided if:
    You have allowed insufficient time to reach the Travelodge at or before the recommended check in time;
You cannot provide evidence that any recovery or repair to your vehicle was made by a recognised breakdown organization; or
You are already a member of a breakdown organisation."

now is it just me, or are the last 2 exclusions contradictory, unfair... and possibly because of that render the policy null and void in law?

ie. if you break down they require proof from a recognised breakdown organization that you did indeed break down.

and yet the next line says you are excluded from the policy if you *are* already a member of a breakdown organisation.

the only way I can read that as making sense is that you broke down while not being a member... but had to then call out the AA or RAC or whatever, and *then* joined. Madness?!

This is of interest to me, as I booked a couple of £9 rooms for 2 nights, for both myself and a friend.... but wasnt able to clear it with friend if theyd be able to make use of them. So took out the insurance just in case.

It turns out that said friend likely wont be able to use room, and from reading the small print, the insurance seems next to useless, even if he were to conveniently "break down" (and I dont really wish death or serious injury on him for the other parts of the policy to kick in!)

    hmmm.

anyone know what travelodge's policy is on transferring rooms?? Im guessing its a no-no!
