I've just got back from the works "do" and had a fab meal, I dont think I went too mad with my choices...

Starter - scallops with salad and tomato salsa
Main - pan fried bass with new potatoes, broccoli and onion relish
Pudding - cheese and biscuits, there was also grapes and celery included

As well as that I had a glass of white wine, tonnes of water, a small slice of wholemeal bread and a chocolate truffle at the end

Yummy! I wonder how many syns I should count for all that????

  • Tikka Masala, from the saucy secrets book:

    fry light
    3 garlic cloves
    1/2 tsp cardamon seeds, crushed
    1/2 tsp turmeric
    1 tbsp ground corriander
1 tsp each ground ginger and cumin
    1-2 tsp chilli powder
    1 level tbsp tomato puree
1 onion peeled snd grated (I'm sure last time I didn't do that, just chopped!)
100g/3 1/2 oz VLF Fromage Frais
1 tbsp fresh coriander (I used dried)
    1 tbsp lemon juice

    method

    1) Fry light, garlic, cardomon, turmeric, coriander, ginger, cumin, chilli powder for 1 minute

    2) Add meat/quorn/veg at this stage. Stir in tomato puree & onion and cook for 3-4 mins. Add 142ml/ 1/4 pint water, bring to boil and simmer for 5 mins

    3) Remove from heat and pour in fromage frais, coriander & lemon juice. Warm through gently & serve

Serve with rice, I like to add a bit of dried coriander to it when cooking, improved the blandness of plain rice no end! :T

    Good Morning Everyone.

Naturally, thank you so much for the Curry recipe.

I also make me a curry last night and it was the best curry I've ever made or even had (maybe I was just very hungry).

I just took some beef cubes, browned it and then added chopped carrots, courgettes and squash pumpkin. Then I mixed one heaped teaspoon of masala spices with 125ml fat free plain yogurt and let it simmer for about an hour. It was so nice. I had 100g cooked rice with it.

Luckily I have a whole tub left over for lunch so just can't wait for 1 o'clock.

    Have a fab day everyone.:j

Hi can anyone tell me the lowest syn muisli or best way to make a crunchy topping for my yoghurt in the morning? I want to just syn a couple of teaspoons rather than have a HEb. Im doing EE this week and trying to cut back on having 4 slices of bread a day. so instead of toast ive been enjoying blueberries and shape yoghurts, but I need a crunch, if you know what I mean. I dont normally buy muelsi or anything like that so dont know where to start synning a little bit.
Ive looked online but dont know any brand names, so if you know any I can look it up.

    thanks
    Nic

I almost forgot to also tell you about the ice cream I made.

I got a recipe on the SW website but I could not find formage frais anywhere (you would remember me asking all those questions about formage frais).

So last night I took 125ml Orley Whip Lite (9½ syns) and whipped it till it was 3 times the volume, added 1 tbs of syrup (2 syns - but next time I will use honey which is only 1 syn) and also added 125ml of fat free plain yogurt. Popped it in the freezer, gave it a stir every 30 mins and after about 3 hours I had a taste and it's delisouis. I have now decided to divide the tub into 3 which will mean that 1 helping is roughly 4 syns. That's not to bad because that is the only syns I use for "sweets" for the day. Even my husband had a taste and he also loves it.

ps: This might not sound so wonderful with your weather being freezing but here in SA it's 30 degrees!

Breaking up a ryvita or scan bran? If you use just the one I can't imagine they'd be more than 1 syn.

my thoughts exactly RL - very tasty and low syn - you could always use half and save half for the next day....

I have no eating plans today - which isnt good, but will be snacking on fruit and squash/water, just need to plan tea... any ideas what I could do with a swede except for Shep Pie?

    TIA
