Assuming there's about half a breast of chicken in the chicken chow mein (and there's probably more - you'd hope!), I reckon you could take 4-ish syns off the green day value making it 3 syns... sound logical?

Hey guys
Has anyone tried any of the egg custard (without pastry!) recipes out there? I found two but don't know which to try:
I'm going to answer my own questionI tried the free one - nice, but I think I over-cooked it as the texture was a bit rubbery(!) and I'd add more vanilla and/or use a proper vanilla pod. Just thought I'd share:p

I couldn't do it because in all honesty I couldn't promote something which I felt wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. Obviously the WW plan has the potential to be very healthy but members are allowed to use their points on anything they want and therefore many members use them in unsuitable (and unhealthy) ways. Who in their right mind would choose to spend points on an apple when they could spend them on crisps or chocolate?
With Food Optimising, you are encouraged to use your free foods to fill up and your syns for the (possibly) unhealthy bits and bobs! Because no food is banned it is far more likely that people will follow the healthier path - and health is paramount of course.
So to answer your question - yes I do get paid to be a Consultant but I have morals and ethics and I wouldn't (couldn't) do it if I weren't convinced that what I am putting forward is absolutely correct and, in the case of bjb, perfectly healthy for her and her baby

Thanks for all the congrats guys!!
May i just ask, i have heard a lot of people mentioning free food abuse, regarding the lasagne sheets as tortillas and chick peas as peanuts, i have never heard of this before (granted i am using my SW books from 2 years ago), can someone give me a clue as to what it is??? I was alsways told by my consultant at the time that as long as it was free you could literally eat it all day long??Please be nice to all moneysavers!

I had my 4th weigh in and lost 2.5lbs, so 7.5lbs in total now. So, I got my half stone sticker and was also slimmer of the week so came home with a bag full of goodies too.
I am going to make Ang's (I think it was hers) pizza with wholemeal bread dough as the base tomorrow. I have been craving it for a few weeks now, so I need to do something before I either get arrested in Tesco's for loitering around the pizza freezers or actually buy one and eat the whole lot. I will use the dough as a healthy extra B and then mozzarella cheese as a Healthy Extra A, I think, or if not I shall sin it as I wont' need much. Everything else on the top will be free food.
menu today:
brekkie - none!!
Lunch - 2 x poached eggs on HEB wholemeal bread and 2tbsp bbq sauce (1 syn)
Dinner - Home made sin free veg curry with cous cous with Greek 0% yogurt to make it creamy
Snacks - Sprouted mung beans with salad dressing (3 syns)
5 x corn thins (HEB) with 5 x light laughing cow triangles (hea)
Dairy milk choc ice with fudge (8.5 syns)
2 x fat free Activa yogurts:hello:0 -

Im not the best person to answer your question really but I thought I would have a go.
Simply as I understand it if you use a (Free) food item for any purpose other than its meant for then its food abuse and should be synned. So if you use lasagne sheets for anything other than sticking in a lasagne i.e. making the lasagne sheet crisps then that is a misuse of food and you should syn your lasagne sheets/crisps. the reason behind this as I understand it is that you might only use 4 sheets in a lasagne where you might use 10 for your crisps.
the same thought process can be applied to oranges. you eat an orange and thats free but you juice an orange then you have to syn it. why? well if you needed 7 oranges for your class of juice then thats a lot of oranges and you wouldnt sit down and EAT 7 oranges so thus the glass of juice has to be synned.
In my opinion, the way to approach it is that if you had the lasagne crisps once every couple of weeks then thats fine and no need to count the syns but have it every day then definitely count the syns
Hope that helps0 -
Could you give us a bit more detail of what you actually put in spice wise please?
I'd like to have a go but don't really know where to start
Maybe you'd be kind enough to write down exactly what you did as in a recipe type format??
I'd be grateful.
Thanks
LLJust thought i'd share the base I made for a curry which turned out to be great. I used two of 0% yogurt from Somerfield (i think its called zero) plus a can of drained chick peas. I liquidised the lot, which from looking at the book seems ok from a syns perspective. It wasn't one of the ones that you weren't allowed to do that with.
I then used the mix with added powdered artificial sweetener and my choice of curry spice to make a korma. It was sweet and rich in texture. I was surprised by how authentic it tasted and thus wanted to share it.

Gosh LL you've got me there. I'm one of those cooks that cooks with what I've got, creates on the fly and sometimes gets lucky :-)
Id say something like:
2 of Zero fat natural yoghurt (sort of mullerlight size tubs)
1 of tinned chick peas in water but drained
2 to 3 dessert spoon of powdered candarell (to taste though)
added, in my case, to
1 of Onion chopped
1 pack of Quorn fake chicken!
3 teaspoons of Sainsbury Korma spice (only because it was in the cupboard)
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
I liquidised the yoghurt and chick peas. This takes quite a bit of doing with a hand held blender but you want it to be smooth. I then fried the chopped onion and quorn until lightly cooked, added the base mix and the three tea spoons of spice and one of garlic powder. Simmer for five mins then add Sweetener to taste. I found three spoons of canderell were necessary to give it the sweet tate you expect of a korma.
I only found out recently that some supermarket kormas use apricot to give it its sweetness....
Hope that helps, I'm no Delia :-)

OMG - just experimented with making a chocolate cake using Kellogs Chocolate Wheats and it is so lush!
I did:
28g Kellogs Chocolate Wheats (1HEb)
1 flat tbsp cocoa powder (2 syns)
a splash of hot milk (from my HEa allowance)
3 tbsp Splenda granulated
1 tbsp honey (2 syns)
3 eggs
I wetted the wheats using the cocoa and hot milk and mashed them to break them down, left them to cool. I seperated the eggs and mixed the yolks with the sweetener and honey and added it to the wheats. Then I whisked the egg whites into stiff peaks and folded gently into the wheats. Poured it into a loaf tin and baked for 30 mins at about 180. Glazed whilst warm with a butter bud made up with a little hot water and sprinkled with a teaspon more of splenda.
Yummmm! It's really chocolately and gooey. I'd probably add more honey next time, or something to give it a little more sweetness.
I make that 4 syns for the whole cake. Now, I know that using cereal like that might make it food abuse, but since I only do it occasionally..... (add 5 syns if you're more angelic than me and don't abuse cereals.)
... I don't plan on eating it all at once but it might just happen....0
