Ang - I am afraid I only eat breakfast Fri-Sun as these are the days I don't work. I just can't eat before around 9am in the morning as it makes me feel sick. However, I always take a mid-morning snack to work or will have my lunch at 11am and then have a mid-afternoon snack, so I don't starve

    Menu for today was:

Mid morning snack - Lemon Hi-Fi Bar (HEB)

Lunch - sweet jacket potato with cottage cheese and pineapple and side salad (huge!) all free - with 2tbsp honey & mustard dressing - 2 syns

Dinner - packet of savoury rice (half a syn) with home made veg curry

Supper - 5 x corn thins (HEB) with 56g cheese (HEA)

    snacks - 175ml red wine - 6 syns
    12.5g milky bar - 3.5 syns
    2 x kiwi fruit - free

    Total syns - 12

Weight in is tomorrow, so wish me luck on week 3.

Well done everyone else on the fab weight losses.
    :hello:
  • hi

have been to my first class...and have a few questions...

1)what are flexi syns? if i'm going out, can i save syns from other days for one night?

    2) i'm a bit incredulous with the amount u can eat...does it really work??

    3)what snacks are u allowed?

    4) if i follow the plan religiously, how much can i realistically lose in a week?

    5) any other low syn foods i need to know about?

    thanks so much
  • Hiya

I am thinking of joing Slimming World on Monday, need to do something. Is it any better than weight watchers, ive failed on that after a few months each time.

Thanks in advance, Plus do you need to go to the classes, or just go for the first one and get all the info?

  • Hello Jess and Savingmum - welcome :D

Savingmum - have a read of the info (page 1 post3) - but in short, you could just join, grab the materials and go it alone - BUT - from most classes you will get a huge amount of support, and you may well find you have a 'better' weight loss by staying to class. That's not to say you can't go it alone. Even as a target member, I stay to class every week unless I am out of the country.

jess - SW does not advocate that you save syns for a big night out. Instead, you should use your syns daily. If you have a night out where you know 15 is not enough, the idea is you plan it through, set yourself a limit (eg 50 syns) and stick to it - the theory is that you will keep counting and stay in control.

Yes the plan really works. if you stick to it 100% you will lose weight. keep a food diary for the first 4 weeks, and you get all your money back if you don't lose. I eat lots, got to target and am staying there :D This doesn't mean that everyone has a 'fast' journey, just instead that you will get there - some will achieve weight loss quickly, others slowly, but eventually, it will happen..

snacks depend on the day you are following, but the plans do not insist on three meals a day. You can eat free and superfree food at any time of the day (at meals or in between) - you could even use your B choices as snacks (ie using your hifi bar or toast with a cup of tea mid morning)

I understand that after any initial loss of water weight the ''average'' dieter loses 1-2lb a week. I lost slower than this and there are peeps in my class who lose much faster. Partly it depends on previous habits and how much you have to lose. Off not on - that is the only important thing

As for low syn foods, check into this thread and you will hear about them as we all do, there are all sorts of things ;) free egg mayo, free sausages, free chips, dips even low syn cakes. - in time you will know it all.

Enjoy your first days on the plan, you will eat lots and, if you follow the rules, you will be losing weight  hurrah!

Still amazed at how i can lose weight lol but am going to try it for 4 weeks :) - plan for today

b: tin beans, 2 nimble wholemeal (B) and tbsp value brown sauce (1/2syn)

s: muller yog, banana and grapes

(already eaten b and yog he he)

l: pasta (made yesterday) with tom, garlic, onion and mush (a massive bowl) with 42g Mozarella light (A)

s: muller chocolate and sw bar (B)

d: tin asda ravioli (1 1/2syn) with mushrooms and maybe a salad

    treat: kit kat 5 1/2syns

    milk for coffee (A)

    total syns 7.5

Teaching swimming 1.5hrs so bit of activity there - in the water and walking to post office (about 45min walk at medium pace)

I have managed to be good and not weigh self..... but don't think i'll be able to much longer. Home scales mon am were 15.11 and sw at 10am were 15.12 so not too different..... Will wear same clothes and see how i am doing lol.....

Joe's sausage order due today and i can have red day tomorrow. Been sticking with green as have no idea what to eat on red! With the order i think it will be much easier. Quickie: CAN I USE MY HEB POTATO TO MAKE MASH OR CHIPS....... or does it have to be a jacket.....
