A strange day for Flat Eric. Havent really stuck to the plan although I did wake up with:A intentions :D.

left work in a  last night so compensated my bad mood by going to M&S and buying synful foods! including PIZZA , low fat coleslaw, smoked cheddar, profiterole desert (munched last night ), baby spring onions :j, and coronation coleslaw:eek:

Ive given one of the pizzas away (it was a multipack of 2!) and will probably cut the remaining pizza into four and freeze and then have as a *special treat*. Its a plain cheese pizza so planned to top with lots of superfree veg :j but might just hide it in the freezer until I reach target :j

Unfortunately, when I fall of the SW wagon, I fall off in spectacular fashion as can be seen from today's menu!

I was meant to be having an Extra Easy day....

    Breakfast Hi fi bar (HEB)
Late breakfast (bacon (fat not removed!) served with 2 fried eggs

    Alpen light (3 syns)

Lunch - Jacket spuds, baby spring onions, low fat coleslaw (unmeasured), 20g smoked bavarian cheddar (now given away), unmeasured cheddar cheese and a tin of stagg silverdale chilli (4.5 on green - lowest syn value taken as EE)

Half a hi fi bar and a cup of tea!

Tea: Pile of jacket chips which were served with pork steaks which I cooked in the oven on a bed of orange slices topped with grated orange zest, juiced orange , chilli flakes and wholegrain mustard

Pudding was a toffee custard pot and a flake and Ive probably drunk throughout the evening 250ml of rose wine.

Im so cross because when things go wrong, then I make them worse! I feel such a fraud when I visit this forum and I see all your wonderful (syn free) menus particularly yours, Angie.

If im in a bad mood or stressed then I punish myself by eating the wrong foods and then to compensate by falling off the SW wagon, I eat more bad foods! where is the logic?!

I know though that for some reason since May, when I gained my 1 1/2 stone award, Ive struggled and my heart hasnt been in it (despite my best intentions).

I know it sounds daft but I have spent the day spring cleaning and do feel that once this is all done and with everything being better organised, my SW will slot into place.

Im out for lunch tomorrow at the chinese and will be having my usual crispy shredded beef with noodles. havent decided on a starter but will have a nose in the food directory to see what are good options. typically its ribs or spring rolls that i pick. I know my choice of crispy shredded beef isnt the healthiest option but its what I love and I see tomorrow as sort of D day and that after tomorrow, I must sit down and plan properly and stick to it. Typically I plan one day for the whole week and then the next day, rewrite the lot!

My consultant does show concern when like recently, Ive not really got anywhere but although I know everyone really well at class, I still feel a bit of a fool having to explain, why for the sixth week running, ive not lost weight. I tend to know what I want to say but then think as im saying it that I sound stupid or just end up waffling and making no sense. Monday is a new week though and with a few days off work, the perfect time to get things sorted and plan some exciting menus.

Just a query - are you a class member, or going this 'alone' ... (with us of course :D )

    I am a member - i go to group.

Gnocchi - it says on the syns calculator that gnocchi are free.
If you go to the syns calculator and select green. Then in the drop down menu for Free food allowance it has gnocchi both dried and fresh.
I assume it means potato gnocchi.

It's a bit confusing as it also says fresh gnocchi from the shops is 2 syns per 100g. But I think shop-bought gnocchi contains added oil whereas homemade doesn't.
"Finish each day And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."
  • Did you carry on and input the details into the calculator? It might be that gnocchi just has a free food allowance making it lower syn.
I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them, but they were only satellites
It's wrong to wish on space hardware
    I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care

Thank you for your really kind words :D:D:D. I do feel better this morning and know that after today I am going to just take a step back and go back to basics, almost like its my first week at SW. The only hurdle this week is pancake night (after weigh in!) and my friend cooking me an unknown lunch on Wednesday. Aside from that, I have no reason not be good! Thank you for your support.
  • IIRC - If I remember correctly

I later edited the post to remove 'IIRC' because I checked my facts, rather than leaving a half remembered pseudo fact on the forum :rotfl:

    sorry to confuse you :o
It doesnt take much to confuse me :rotfl: so dont worry about it:D

Hi this is the same recipe I made for our Christmas dinner, it went down a storm, my mum and dad had no idea it was a SW recipe. I also added (and synned) a tablespoon of brandy just make it a wee bit extra special.
    Fab pate recipe:

    Chicken and Bacon Pate

Syn free on red or easy

8oz chicken livers (I used frozen ones - I think there was 250g)
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    salt and pepper
    vlf fromage frais
    1 choped onion
    1/2 tsp mixed herbs
    4oz lean chopped bacon

fry the onion, bacon and herbs til soft. add the liver, and cook for 7 mins.
transfer to a processor/blender etc and blend til smooth
add the fromage frais 1 spoon at a time until it is the correct consistency.
    store in the fridge.

Retiredlady - I was just innocently lurking on here - and I saw your message. I just wanted to encourage you - tell you that you are BRILLIANT and have come so far. :A

I know I can't say anything that you don't already know - but how about just leaving those however many syns in the past (cos thats where they are now) and making tomorrow a brilliant Food Optimising Day (uh-oh - I appear to have been brainwashed by my consultant...argh:rotfl: ).

have all your As & Bs - 15 syns (you have nothing to make up for synwise - cos its in the past, right?;) ) - and if you are a carbohydrate sort of person (like me) jacket potatoes and rice all the way - as many times as you like. Otherwise cook a MASSIVE roast - and eat your way through it all afternoon.

(And if that all seems like too much hard work - then do it when you are ready - but please don't be hard on yourself!)

Thank you very much rupe, it is nice to know someone cares, you are an :A! I feel a little more in control this morning so hopefully the madness is over. I think it is having people staying in the house that causes me stress. Our company is here for another week yet - she is a lovely girl and there is no blame on her for this, it is just me angsting over my cooking, cleaning and entertainment duties! It will be worse in April when my sister and her husband are coming over from Canada and staying for a fortnight. She has never been to Europe before and I know my little house will look so poky and crowded compared to hers that I am panicking already! You would think that at me age I would stop being so silly:o:o:rolleyes:
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!

Its only natural for you to worry about things like that, whenever people stay with me im always doing things to make my home perfect in some way. But i know how difficult it is trying to entertain them and still look after yourself, Try and make sure you have at least 2 SW friendly meals a day, then that quick sarnie wont seem so bad. Once your company has gone you will fall straight back into your SW way of life you have no worries there, you have come too far to stop now.
    You will be fine Marion

  • Hugs to everyone having a bad weekend foodwise. I myself had to buy lunch out yesterday unexpectedly, so ended up sharing a panini and a bit of cake with the OH. Too many syns, and yes, I could have left the cake, but I REALLY wanted it :rotfl:
I've just popped a SW quiche in the oven. My first attempt. I hope it comes out well..... fingers crossed.
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!
