Coconut milk was discussed only a page or so back.... the 'reduced fat' tins are less than 1/2 the syns of the full fat, and I have never truly spotted the difference. Still high syns but very do-able

Just a query - are you a class member, or going this 'alone' ... (with us of course :D )
It may be half the syns but it is a smaller can i believe 165ml as opposed to a 400ml can, there may be others out there or maybe even a bit of creamed coconut instead.

  • Im having a dinner party next saturday-my niece is also doing SW with me, have the main and pud worked out but am struggling for a starter-am doing the extra easy most of the time-she dosent like prawns, so prawn cocktail is out-am thinking along lines of pate and toast-anyone got any good pate recipes-not fish ones please? Or any other ideas.
I am doing ribeye steak, salad and jacket for main, and for pud -sugar free jelly mixed with low fat yogurt to make mousse, frozen fruits of forest ,with broken merangue and elmlea to make fruit sundaes
will be grateful for any ideas please

    Fab pate recipe:

    Chicken and Bacon Pate

Syn free on red or easy

8oz chicken livers (I used frozen ones - I think there was 250g)
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    salt and pepper
    vlf fromage frais
    1 choped onion
    1/2 tsp mixed herbs
    4oz lean chopped bacon

fry the onion, bacon and herbs til soft. add the liver, and cook for 7 mins.
transfer to a processor/blender etc and blend til smooth
add the fromage frais 1 spoon at a time until it is the correct consistency.
    store in the fridge.

400ml can of reduced fat comes to 21syns.

400ml Full fat comes to ..... 33 syns

Hi all....just checking in to say hello!!!
Hope you are all ok.......keep counting those syns ;)
I have just discovered those Afrika biccies that Judderman keeps advocating.....yum..never thought I would see the day I would choose dark choc over milk but have really enjoyed these today.......think my sugar cravings have subsided and not getting the sugary yearnings I was at the start!!!!
BTw have also discovered today that Penguin biccies are 5.5 syns which means it is another bit of chocolately heaven I can enjoy............

Keep on slimming , keep on slimming.........
  • Thanks Northan lass and Angie-will try them both out in week to see which one I like best! both sound georgous to be honest!
I might be crazy but I'm not stupid....

Me too:mad:, so far today I have had 74.5 syns and I have been like this since Thursday:eek:. I don't know why - just seem to have lost it, hope it runs its course soon because I really am not enjoying it, it is making me miserable.

Retiredlady - I was just innocently lurking on here - and I saw your message. I just wanted to encourage you - tell you that you are BRILLIANT and have come so far. :A

I know I can't say anything that you don't already know - but how about just leaving those however many syns in the past (cos thats where they are now) and making tomorrow a brilliant Food Optimising Day (uh-oh - I appear to have been brainwashed by my consultant...argh:rotfl: ).

have all your As & Bs - 15 syns (you have nothing to make up for synwise - cos its in the past, right?;) ) - and if you are a carbohydrate sort of person (like me) jacket potatoes and rice all the way - as many times as you like. Otherwise cook a MASSIVE roast - and eat your way through it all afternoon.

(And if that all seems like too much hard work - then do it when you are ready - but please don't be hard on yourself!)

IIRC - If I remember correctly

I later edited the post to remove 'IIRC' because I checked my facts, rather than leaving a half remembered pseudo fact on the forum :rotfl:

    sorry to confuse you :o
