Marion - I acknowledge that using chickpeas in a cake would be classed as a misuse, but I have missed the recipe, would you be willing to share it pretty please?

Many moons ago, (when I did WW no count) there was a chickpea chocolate cake that everyone raved about. I don't know how it would work on SW, but I wonder if I could find the recipe anywhere......

Here is my recipe - I love it. It is important to whisk the egg whites before folding into the mixture because it makes the cake nice and light! I know I shouldn't have but I made blueberry muffins using this recipe this morning! I just had a couple with some sliced strawberries and a vanilla and chocolate muller poured over - heaven on a plate and syn free! (ok it is 1/2 syn for the baking powder):o

Sugar free and fat free cake! I make a basic cake then add various flavours - blueberrys with vanilla essence, rhubarb and ginger, apricot and almond essence

    1 tin of chickpeas drained
5 tbsp artificial sweetener powder - use more if you like it sweeter
HEB portion of fruit (dried prunes, dried apple, apricot - what ever you fancy)
1 tsp essence - what ever you prefer and goes with your fruit!
    3 eggs seperated
    1 tsp baking powder

Seperate the eggs putting the whites to one side. Put everything else except the fruit in a food processor and whiz untill it looks like cake mixture. Put into a seperate bowl. Whip the eggs whites to form soft peaks then fold the cake mixture into the egg whites. Gently fold in the fruit you are using!

Bake in medium oven (I used my Remoska) for about 30 minutes, If dividing mixture into muffin tins allow about 15-20 minutes.

Other than 1/2 syn for the baking powder all other ingredients are free on SW. I know some consultants will say this is food abuse and shouldn't be allowed but my consultant said it is fine as long as you are not having loads of cake every day!

  • Hello everyone! :j

Whoops! I didn't realise Magpie was in Spain. :o Marion, I think the chocolatey chickpea cake is simply adding in a sachet of whichever options hot chocolate you like, although I much prefered the chickpea cake with lemon curd the last time I ate it many moons ago (IIRC it involved VLF from frais, lemon zest and juice, and eggs, possibly just the yolk or white...)

So first day of my "new week" of putting the unexplained gain behind me and getting a decent loss this week. I'm going to try to post my daily plans a bit more often just in case any of you lot can pick up any faults in it. :o

    b) shape lasting satisfaction yoghurt, raspberry
    l) cheese ham & leek pasta & sauce, which I think is free (no added butter or milk) and a tin of mixed bean salad
dinner) oh no! I've got a meal out with work! But its in a grill so I'm thinking make it an EE day and have a steak & jacket potato or salad.

Apart from tonight which may put a flaw in this, I'm going to try to stay right down on syns... if I need them at the weekend then fine, but since I really want a good loss (more than 1.5lbs) to make up for last night's disaster, I'm going to try to be really good just for this week.

I hope you all think this is a good idea, but I have copied Flat Eric's post onto the first page of this thread. (I got an early post deliberately :D)

If peeps ask about the plan, we can direct them to it there .. if anyone (FE?)thinks it is a bad idea, then it can be deleted of course...

just tryin' to be helpful :o

Please pop over to page 1 to see what I have done - ta x

I am fine with this. :D

A superb loss, and an excellent milestone for you, well done ! :D
Just because your paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you ! :rotfl:
  • On another note, had a very dodgy week myself, due to family stress and comfort eating. Still going tonight as need to realise what I do to my health when I eat for comfort, but not looking forward to it. May well require a thread hug later.

can i ask what sort of excercise plan you's all do?

broke - I'm a bit haphazard on the exercise front! Should really do more!! :o I love swimming, and reached my personal best of 62 lengths last week! :A But I'd probably go so far as to say that's the only kind of exercise I actually enjoy!!

On top of swimming though, I do try to go to at least 1/2 exercises classes per week (Body attack or Step most recently), I've also started beginners Yoga!

And, I've actually just decided I'm gonna ask to speak to a trainer at the gym, as although I'm losing weight, and will probably get to the weight I want to be soon, I still have this spare tyre sitting round my middle - that needs to go!! So I'm gonna see if there's anything specific I could be doing to help it on it's way!!

    What about you?

    xx
