Morning all,
I really need to get focussed, thats a few weeks in a row my mind hasnt been on it, im slowly getting further away from that target. i wish I had Angie, SC and Marions will power to do 100 % days and really focus.
I weigh in at class and go home with the mindset that this week is going to be it, I am going to stick to the plan and will be 100% good. It never works though and inevitably things go awry.
The trick I found was to say to yourself that you are going to be good for that particular day only i.e. dont think about the week, just the individual day. Then the next day, Im going to be good again today etc and follow this for the whole week.
I just found the mindset behind this was that I wasnt putting too much pressure on myself to be good all week and thus more likely to give in to temptation.
If things did go awry, then I would forget about it and start afresh the next day rather than think, Hmm Ive blown my "I want to be good all week motto", might as well carry on munching those syns....0 -

I stuck (as usual) to the diet last week and once again managed to not lose anything. I swear if I was at target I couldn't stick exactly and matain the exact weight every week.
I'm so close to giving up, then another week passes and I stick with it again only to stay at the same weight.
I put a lot of store into it being something to do with my thyroid problem and medication, its all I could put it down to.
Yesterday I spent the best part of the day at hospital for results. Was told there isn't anything wrong with me I 'Just have' chronic fatigue, go away deal with it, have a glass of whisky or brandy at night and I may never lose weight!!!!
Feeling very shocked today. Didn't get to class WI last night (late because of hospital), but consultant has said I can now go along as a 'social member' or 'target member' (even though I'm about 2 st off target) and not pay because I inspire others, God knows how???
She said I don't have to pay but paying isn't the issue, losing no weight is.
Fed up AGAIN. Arhhhhhhhhhhh

it does sound as if your medication is playing havoc with your SW efforts so perhaps a chat with the doc is in order? I wouldnt accept what the hospital have told you and would be bending their ear wanting answers, not put offs. I know it sounds daft but why not have a week off plan? I dont mean go mad and eat everything under the sun (i.e pizza every night!!), I just mean eat sensibly but allow yourself things you wouldnt normally eat i.e, dont worry about buying synfree sausages - pick the ones you fancy (assuming you eat meat of course!) have an uncle beans sweet and sour sauce and dont worry about the syns. go out for lunch and have that chocolate fudge cake and cream. have fish and chips from the local chippie :j It might give your body a shock ! and whilst the weigh in next week might produce a stay the same or gain, it might do your body good to have some different foods.
If your consultant is letting you go for free then surely that is getting the best of both worlds? I mean it much be incredibly frustrating not to be losing when you are sticking to the plan - incidentally do you ensure you eat enough???
but if you can still attend, you are not going to be penalised if you do lose weight but you will still have the support from other members etc but for free0 -

It could be you have a wheat problem like my mother in law and now she's on a gluten free diet and has lost alot of weight now .
Theres gluten in alot of things from bread ,pasta , cakes ,gravy , just go and have a few test to see what you can't eat .
My mother in law lost over 3 stone years ago on s/w then put on over a stone and found it hard to lose it again , until she went to the doctors for test to be told she had this problem , now the weight has come back off .
Also i'm not sure but the doctor can refer you to a slimming world class and you get a reduction or most of it paid for , not sure , but i'm sure i read it somewhereask consultant31 .
Were all here for you , peachyxxxx0 -
LilacLillie that must be so frustrating (not that I'm a star at losing, believe me, but I don't try so hard). I live in Shropshire and definitely our GP surgery can refer patients to SW - it's free then I believe. However, since you have been told you can be a free member anyway it's irrelevant, but perhaps your GP can come up with some reasons, beyond your thyroid treatment, that you aren't losing anything?
PS I just mashed celeriac with sweet potato (added a little mustard powder and stock cube, and a quarter of Lakeland butter bud) and it was fabulous. Must remember to do that again.
Also I've been meaning to ask, does anyone know if there is a syn value to Lakeland Butter Buds please. They contain Maltodetrin, enzyme modified butter oil (10%), dehydrated butter (10%), salt, shortening powder, guar gum, baking soda and colouring. it says there are 6.5 g of fat (4.0g of it saturated) and 3.4g total sugars per 100g. None of which means a thing to me.
Many thanks in advance.:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

Your consultant is being very 'kind' to let you attend class for nowt, as ultimately it is her taking a cut in pay... but did she ever produce the 'diet sheet' she promised you? I am still able to send you the details of FF if you fancy itbut only if it is something you want to try.
Clearly, your meds are causing real problems for you - you spoke ages back of having your meds reviewed, has this happened yet? Maybe at that review it will be worth mentioning your weight loss problems also.
I don't know what to suggest - you are sticking to plan and not getting anywhere - either a week off, or a week full on (FF).... <big hugs> from me.
However, one really positive thing to say amidst this is that your 'sticking power' and commitment are fantastic :T ... I can only imagine that these meds would have caused big weight gains had you not been on SW...0 -

I have never looked it up, but my consultant said they were 1/2 syn each. As I use only one in mash which then is shared, I don't count them..0 -

Thanks Angie, that's the answer I was hoping for! As I only cook for me, and not much calls for a buttery taste, one sachet can last me a week, so i will say no syns x
Northernlass, here they are, I'm sure they can be bought from other places than Lakeland too http://www.lakeland.co.uk/butter-buds!REG/F/keyword/butter/product/6744:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
