Dunno about Tesco etc. but my local co-op has sliced bread on 'sale or return' as with newspapers so just because it's being taken off the shelves doesn't mean it's being chucked.0

Have you had a bad experience at a supermarket or something?Theres no excuse for staff to look down and talk down to people, i couldnt possibly afford the full priced food from thier shop, thats no excuse for them to talk down to me, puts me off shopping there, staff like that should be fired, youre supposed to be nice and friendly.
Tescos latest enemy.........0 -
On the 24th midday my local Spar has a stack of loaves & other bread items about 30/40% off (eg fruity buns down to 49p), it meant bread was 75p a loaf instead of £1.25.
Picked up a quiche for 75p from the reduced shelf as couldn't make it for that price, went back for another but the staff had had them all!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Was in my local Sainsbury's on Christmas Eve about an hour before closing. A customer announcement apologised to those waiting in eager expectation that short shelf-life items would not be reduced because they were donating any meat, veg, bread, cheese, etc to a children's charity.0

I got a couple of great bargains in Morrisons yesterday (Saturday) morning. Some of their top of the range bread for 49p and also 3 packets of half price beef mince. Was just what I needed as I wanted to make spag bol today, had enough left over to make 3 decent burgers too!

Went boxing day and everything of on 26th still there 1hr before closing, I asked when its being marked down, they said it wasn't! Then watched them throw away crates & crates worth of meat £1000 worth easily!!I'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!:mad:0 -

Why couldn't they give it a local homeless shelter or a local charity? Throwing food out like that with so many people going hungry is appalling, ~I'm not even just talking about Africa here plenty of people in the UK and Ireland are going hungry each and every day.
Tesco helping the community? I think not!!!
/sorry rant over:hello:0 -
