    happy xmas..
Im going to spend some of it on a train and the rest lazing around.. I couldnt handle the crowds in the shops lol.
the promise of freebies that probably wouldnt be free anyway and the chance everything will be gone just isnt worth it.

I tend to have a quick trip up to Tesco on Christmas Eve afternoon to see what is going but they don't reduce the turkeys past 30% at most - they give them to staff instead. I have never seen them give anything away - ever. Still, there are quite often a few bargains around - bi-annually at our store and this year should hopefully be a good one as last year there was nothing really going - they got the ordering right last year - so this year if they are true to form then they will have over-stocked!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Must say I agree, I wouldn't be bothered to hit the shops in afternoon for a free loaf and pint of milk. I know times are hard but......... yes why don't these supermarkets give what is left to the homeless shelters. Better still why wait until the end of the day, they could (and maybe do) give to the shelters early, so at least the homeless will get fresh bread etc
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

I worked in M & S and no they did not do that. What they DID do was sell a lot of perishables off dirt cheap to staff.

How about just going by that old fashioned saying of -"Treat others how you would wish to be treated"? Then it wouldn't matter which side of the till you were!

Or as a friend of mine has on her forum signature - "If you see someone without a smile......give them one of yours!"

Here's mine to start you off!

Thanxs, You put a smile on my face

well I normally end up on xmas eve shopping for things- and have to say its the one day that reductions are at their worst -things either get reduced on mass- like all the sandwiches are cheap, or nothing is left- even stuff in full date! Its hit or miss but the general rule is that if you are not doing xmas this year, and are quite happy eating non xmas food (such as sandwiches) then you are in luck. But if your looking for food to suppliment xmas dinner- (turkey, prawns, vegetables, fresh fruit, cheese...etc) then from my experience, its hard to find food thats even within its date!

Agree with the post above on working xmas eve- I used to work in fashion retail on the shop floor- xmas eve we just had to laugh- it got worse every year- we shut up shop at 3pm to prepare for the sale, all the shelves, clothes, mannicuins...had to come off, be marked down, and be replaced. Yet customers would still be trying literally pull up the shutters !! One women wanted a refund, we heard her through the crack in a door past the grills that were up. She had bought the wrong item and was "going out tonight and could she swap it for a different dress"
