I would hope they at lease make it a criminal offence if they do steal the wrong persons stuff and bar that person from being a baliff.
It isn't like it hasn't happened already.£3,000 for victim of bungled repo
Published Date: 05 December 2008
By Colin Drury
WHEN a bungling bank repossessed the wrong house it was quick to offer a grovelling apology and promised compensation.
HBOS said it would pay for all damage when bailiffs – who were given the wrong address – smashed through David Booth's front door, ripped out furniture and threw his household goods into 17 bin bags, which they then dumped in the street.
But it has taken an 18-month legal fight for Mr Booth, of Holywell Green, to receive the compensation after bank bosses went back on their word.

BTW, I'm not in favour of the Dewhoff System myself. Just pointing out how societies can change with time and during challenging circumstances.
Go thank Labour for your ID cards and tell us you have "nothing to hide" when a Government with an agenda you might not now think is possible should get in to power, or if current Government itself changes under the strain.0 -
Aren't bailiffs just legalised thick thugs? :doh:0
-
They would be more than welcome to come and try.I personally wouldn't give a flying toss who they represent.0

Well it's been pretty obvious that this government's been becoming more like a dictatorship for ages so I'm surprized that anyone's shocked at whatever comes out next.(This thing about bailiff's powers was announced ages ago by the way).
All I can say is welcome to Britain under a labour(always loony government).
The German people in the early 30s did'nt see their problems coming either, look what happened to them.0 -
If this government allow this to go ahead they will bitterly regret it. People will start riots again. An Englishmans home is his castle and to give powers to thieving thugs, which most bailiffs are, to come and effectively rob people in their homes is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far!
British people have had enough!!!!!

We have had enough, but let's face it British people will never start riots. We just sit there and take it,always have and we always will.
Look at the French, they stand up and cause bedlam whenever they don't like something.
The British, slap us on the face and we just turn round and let them hit the other side.
We just don't have the balls to stand up for ourselves.
Never have and never will.0 -
I don't agree, I think British people are finally at breaking point! They rioted over the poll tax and I believe riots will start again. Absolutely!
How dare this government allow such a violent, disgraceful law to be passed! Of course the public will start rioting! What else can they do?
Remember, we now have the power of the internet, unlike 25 years ago when the riots were arranged by word of mouth. It would be very easy to arrange a protest. Very easy indeed.0 -

Well let's hope your'e right because something needs to be done to stand up to this lot but I can't see it happening myself.0 -
I really do begin to feel I need a shotgun. For rabbit stew, of course. I have a very good recipe.0

The trick with rabbit stew is to add a little fat otherwise the meat goes dry. Streaky bacon is good for that.0
