  • It's done. it's done, it's done. I've finally found the floor in my study & cleaned & polished it. All thats left to do now is file a small box of paperwork & clean the desk. I'm too tired to do that now, so it can wait till tomorrow. I've also cooked my turkey & hubby has carved it, it's sat in the freezer now waiting till Christmas day, the beef is also cooking & will be carved tomorrow & tomorrow I'll cook the gammon.
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Thanks all for the birthday wishes. I've had a lovely day. I thought we would just have a snack lunch, but at the spanish restaurant they had a set lunch in addition to the tapas. had yummy fish cakes and steak with blue cheese sauce. It was lovely! Consequently haven't done much for the rest of the afternoon. Had a lovely snooze.

Now fruitfully occupied making truffles etc for Christmas and new year.

    So far have made

    Peanut butter squares and
bounty balls inside only so far (yesterday)

Ginger truffles inside only so far.
White choc and apricot truffle mix (inside only so far, is chilling now)

Planning to do some little almond biscuits and maybe some marzipan sweets. Now have to get these done soon, as dh has suggested I give some to his mum to take to SIL for CHristmas and she's going on Tuesday.

That's all for now. Back to work

    Hi all,
For those feeling a bit about the crab _pale_ I was told to put into a bath of cold water/fridge because it then goes into a deep sleep. Then I got DH to boil it as I can't do that. I'm half vegie but love fish/seafood. Suppose that doesn't count being veggie. I have just served DH his dinner of the above crustation smoked salmon, garlic butterfly prawns, scallops salad and garlic bread.

Thinking of the crab,,, I am sat with nothing.:o
I/We have never cooked a crab before and don't think we will ever do it again.

Having a sad time tonight, don't feel I can post the reasons why,:( not OS.

    Take care all. x

I know it's not OS but,,,,,, it's not good news for my DB2. DH and I went down to Dartmouth to deliver Xmas to him.
We all had a great time then he told us the latest results of his tests.
    Not good news
    I am so worried.
I love my 2 Brothers, both of them have the big "C" :(

I didn't mention that DB1 had a car crash and has 14 staples in his head and 2 broken ribs, DSis in law has a broken arm .Local hosp shut down so they have find some other place to be treated (they lives in Spain) they have to pay megga bucks (eueros) to have treatment.

    Dear God give us strength.

Sorry for all bad news, but thought that if I posted late at night most people wont read this and have reason to complain that it's not OS.

    Hi guys,

    Happy birthday purpleivy

I am shattered today, the eldest has been a little s0d digging at the other two all day and generally on a wind up mission. I suppose it's because he knew we were going up to the grave to leave some flowers but he has made the whole day thoroughly unpleasant for us all. Someone has left some plastic flowers in a pot there (dug in to the soil) and perhaps I am being unreasonable but it really made me sad as Eric was an award winning gardener and I just felt they were inapprorpiate. I haven't moved them though as whoever it was obviously cared enough to leave them in the first place. We left some little messages for him and I poured a beer on the grave for him and tidied it up a bit. Today I was just numb, no tears allthough DD was quite upset.

We are sorted for this week. Mr T's delivered at 8pm and I just need to get a sack of spuds and some fruit and cat food (forgot to order some doh!) over the next couple of days. All pressies are wrapped except DD's which I will do tomorrow night when they are in bed and just a couple of local ones to deliver tomorrow.

We have had a new member of staff join us a couple of months ago and she has over the last few weeks latched on to another member of staff and now calls her mum and a very sad tale has come out. She is only nineteen and has reallly been through the mill and is currently living in a flat with three others who like to party until all hours and generally take dreadful advantadge of her. In has stepped 'mum' and sorted out a flat for her, 1 member of staff has loaned her the deposit, staff have got together and bought the basics (kettle, toaster etc), the manager has given her a fridge and table and chairs, someone else has donated a tv, someone else a bed settee and I have chipped in with a microwave an old phone and some bedding, throws, cushions and a video and videos that were due to be donated to my workplace as I have replaced some of them with dvd's. She has no idea of much else other than the deposit and moves in on Tuesday with nothing other than some clothes. Sometimes I hate the human race and what it is capable of inflicting on others and yet to see everyone get together to help this girl has been heartwarming and rewarding.

Anyway I have yet again rambled on too much, I hopefully will be able to post a little more often as we are all off for a couple of weeks.

Gentlest of hugs to you Betheebee, I don't post that often but do try and keep up with reading. You are a wonderful woman and I hope your problems are resolved soon. PS, Eric used to go down to the beach once a month at the lowest tides and come home with some fresh edibles. He had to cook them as I couldn't but by golly they were tasty. I love fresh crab and we used to spend hours at the sink picking the meat out of the legs and claws.

VickyA - I hope your mum is OK tomorrow.

Candygirl - glad your hangover is better.:rotfl:

    Speak soon,

    Smoky. xxxxx
