Morning Friends,
We're back from visiting DB2 in Dartmouth having delivered Christmas to him and kids. We all put the tree and decs up. I took a crimble carol cd and played that whilst doing the room, we had HM mince pies, sos rolls, other snacks,hm truffles and mulled wine.
I hadn't told him what I had planned, he was so supprised and happy, hardly a dry eye in the house but with much laughter. We managed to hide the presents we bought for him to give to his kids, it makes me so happy to know they will wake on the morning and have things to open. I did HM stockings, they looked quite festive, and filled them with the usual fruit, nuts, little things to open and some hm goodies.
DH and I walked into town and bought some lights for thier tree reduced to £2 and crackers from Boots, was £8 but got them for £3.91. Went to the market and bought a huge live crab, as it was late in the day I bartered and got it reduced from £18 to £6. It's been in my bath overnight so will cook it today, I lurrrrv crab.
Today I have to try and finish wrapping, make mince pies and put BM on. I took our bedding with us so that's in the WM.
We stopped in some woods on the way home and collected loads of Old Man's Beard that I'll put on the beams. Feeling very festive now.
I don't know if you remember I wrote about DH and the receipt from Morries that was 7p short of £40, Well I went on to the Morries thread (yes I did venture out of here) and posted a request for a receipt. A very kind member called HAPPYROLY pmed me to say she has one and has sent it to me. I offered to pay for postage and send a gift but she wouldn't hear of it.
I told her of OS so hope she pops in, I think HAPPYROLY:A is Santa in disguise.
Off to catch up, hope you all have a good day.
((((((hugs to all)))))))))) and welcome newbies0 -
Morning peeps :santa2:
DD and DS arrive tonight on the plane from Edinburgh :j
DSS x 2 and one's girlfriend arrive this afternoon :jand then it's DH's 50th birthday tomorrow so it's kind of all go.
Made the Christmas cake yesterday after soaking fruit in alcohol for a very long time. Also made the Baileys lookie-likey (from this site?? Can't remember as I cut and pasted the recipe into my little - or not so little - folder. Thanks to whoever posted it). Had a tiny taste as I had to drive last night but it seemed very delicious.
Meals today will be self service - think I'll make up some soup and then people can have that and probably sandwiches and I have some frozen sausage rolls so I will defrost them.
DH is going to put another coat of paint on the landing and stair walls and then it will be nice and finished!
Dogs need a good off-lead walk today so that will be nice. Older dog has not taken to wearing her coat at all. DH had to take it off her the other day as she was walking so slowly and sulking + the young dog was going loopy with excitement because something was new.
Ok, off for a coffee I think. I'm a tea drinker but need coffee today to get my b*tttttt in gear.
((((hugs)))) to poorlies.
Enjoy your weekend folks and don't get frazzled.

ed to add - just read your post bethee - you are such a kind person. What a lovely thing to do for your DB0 -

MrsMix, didn't know there was a continental market on there today, might go for a mooch a bit later. Hope you're feeling a bit better now?

The continental market is in Hailsham so the high street is shut if you are going up there the one way system after you go over the bridge (going up past the new Tesco) isn't one way anymore so be careful
pam xx
P.S.
yes I do feel a bit better thanks just waiting on blood test results to see if they shed any light on what the problem isI didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you

Morning all,
Roast chicken here for dinner with all the trimmings, need to strip the beds and get them washed, I have one load in the wm now, towels bath mat etc, will get them on the line today as its nice and windy.
OH has gone off to the car boot sale, and on the hunt for a sack of spuds, he wrapped my pressies yesterday and put them under the tree, I have had a good feel.
We are off to my sisters for Xmas day, but she gets easily frazzled, and stressed, so I do the cooking with my bil as a commi chef, so I plan to peel all the spuds on Xmas eve, and put them in a clean (new) bucket out in the conservatory where it is cold, I will also prepare the sweede and carrot, so will just have to reheat that, and maybe a cauli cheese sis and bil are veggie, will prep all the other vegies, and cook the meat at home xmas morning, so most of it will be done, I dont want to be in the kitchen all day, but I must say I do quite enjoy cooking away with my G + T. Sister will then prepare tea, which is a help yourself bread cheese etc, so everyone is happy.
beemused, congratulations on your retirement x
Squiggly, glad you are feeling better x
Hugs to all in need, have good days all xx0 -

Logging on to say have a very merry Yule to all who celebrate it.
Little bear fell out of his cot this morning. I took the advice of Mummysaver and lowered the one side of the cot that would go down. He didn't climb over that side.

Morning everybody,
Congratulations to those of you who have everything done, am off to brave the shops again as I am seriously behind in my preparations...must eat first as feeling very hungry....unusual but easily remedied.
Need to make some mince pies later on...made lots a couple of weeks ago but they got eaten so leaving it as late as possible...think that finishes me with cooking as DDs 1 & 3 are doing Christmas dinner and all I have to do is have the food in...done. I do insist on doing my own red cabbage but might do that to-morrow to allow flavours to develop in fridge.
WS...sounds as if you need to stock up on things like Arnica cream for bruises...my DS2 was always cutting or bruising himself and once as a teenager walked home from a hurling match with a broken bone in his leg, so be prepared not to panic!
Hugs to all, enjoy your holidays

Well, morning everyone... I have been up a while honestly!
had lovely meal provided by MIL last night and birthday breakfast and presents in bed this morning brought my ds. Nice start to the day. Already got big beautiful bunch of flowers from dh and promise of lunch out. Official present is going to be a piece of silver jewellery when I visit him in Mexico.
lolled around for a while in bed then got up and changed the bedsheets. Never say I don't know how to enjoy myself on my birthday!
DS is going out to the pub on a morris dance meet and dh going to do some jobs for MIL, so I have a quiet hour, so will do a few of the Christmas sweeties I think. Also some baking with some of the excessive amount of stuff I have in my baking drawer.
MIL gave me leftovers from last night (HM game pie) so all I have to do today is vegetables. ALl makes for a nice leisurely day doing a few bits and pieces.
Hope that you are all chipper this morning and having a lovely weekend."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I'm so pleased Tom won as well - I thought his show dance was fabulous & he looks like he is absolutely having a ball when he dancesNot to say I didn't like Rachel & Vincent too. I agree about the "roll of carpet" with Lisa & Brendan - it looked very ungraceful at that point.
Have a look at his tap dancing on http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EXFiFg2GX6w
He did it as a promo-tape for submission pre-audition. The story goes that he watched the original and copied it painstakingly.
Very OS today - got a congested chest and probably only going to loiter around in PJs, no cooking no nothing!0
