Well done to those who have now received cheques. My form only arrived at the weekend and returned it right away. First bond matures start of Feb so hopefully cheque will arrive soon after.
If you are looking for somewhere to stash your cheques look out for any special rates from Close Brothers. They have had market leading rates twice but only for a short time. Good luck with wherever you decide to invest it.0 -
I decided to leave my momney in till the end of the fixed term (31 Jan) and I also got caught out by the forms not being posted to me for 3 weeks (I got them just before Christmas, posted them back 2 days b4 Chritsmas; now they say I'm 'not on the computer yet'.) they told me on the phone, when I was trying to decide whether to take the money immediately or leave it in, that the 6 weeks would start from when they received the form; now they tell me the 6 weeks starts from after the end of the fixed term. I would never have left the money in if I had known that. I was expecting to get a cheque within a week or so of 31 Jan, now it looks like it will be mid Feb, and I'm expecting much later, if ever. This latest round of bank colllapses makes me think that, if they have to reimburse all of RBS (Lloyds? Barclays?) customers also etc etc etc, then I won't be getting my money back after all. My own fault for not taking it straight away, but who knows what to do these days? I have other money in NS and I, but if we go bankrupt as a country, will this money be lost too, does anyone know?0

(sorry for delay in replying)
Yes I read all those posts on here, looked at some polls about what people would do etc, as I was worried about leaving the money in, so I called them myself, got an answer that seemed to corroborate the majority of in depth answers from people on here, and I decided to leave it in. It didn't occur to me to ask how long it would be before they sent out the form- I thought it would take 2 or 3 days.0 -
Midst all the euphoria, spare me a thought - and others like me. Applied on Nov 12th, for account closing Nov 24th. Have I received cheque? Not a sausage!!!
Glad for all you guys who have though...
Pox on the FSCS though.0 -
Got home late tonight and found two envelopes, each with a cheque from FSCS for my two matured accounts!!! However, like paintfly and david78, the letter says interest is paid up to 7 October. I'm not sure that the interest paid is correct for full term. It is less than my calculations but I could be wrong, so will be ringing to check tomorrow. But at least things are moving!0

This is exactly what i was told. Twice.
An hour after the second conversation, i had a phone call to say my cheque was being processed that day. ie yesterday.
I wouldnt be too down at hearing they dont have your form.
Read my other posts for a blow by blow account.
I dont know if it was the whingeing by email or being ultra nice to the 2nd operator, but i was flabbergasted when i got the call.0 -
Received and returned my paper application for FRB on 22 December. Today I got a letter dated 30 January from FSCS thanking me for returning the application form and saying they are processing forms that have been returned and they are working hard to assess my application as soon as possible.
Good to know they have got it and are now working on it. My FRB matures on 12 Feb 09 so hope a cheque will arrive soon afterwards, fingers crossed.Regards

Like Erb, I also received (on Monday 2 Feb) a letter dated 30 January saying that my claim was being processed.
I sent my claim form by Special Delivery so I KNEW they received it on 24 December, marked "process urgently - matures in 5 weeks" as suggested by one of the FSCS staff! My account had matured on 28 January, so I was annoyed not to have received my money.
FSCS was closed due to snow on 2 Feb, but I managed to speak to someone on 3 Feb - he confirmed that there was no problem with my claim form and suggested I rang again if no cheque arrived by the end of the week.
Today I received my cheque exactly 6 weeks after my claim was received - co-incidence or what?

Tulip - You lucky thing - that must be the fastest maturity date to receipt of cheque so far reported. Let's hope all the other cheques start to appear soon too. Keep your fingers crossed for us.0
