Sorry to hear that BryanB. That is terrible...
I suppose since the interest rates are so low, at least I know that I won't lose much if they pay up a little late..

That was my theory too, I'd rather lose About 6 weeks of today's rate than 6 weeks of the near 7% from Oct to Dec. It's not a month yet since mine matured so there's still time.
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !
  • So, anybody had any actual money from a FRB yet?
Ever feel like you've been had?

Received and returned forms on 15th December. Bond matured on 8th Jan. No cheque received yet. :(
  • We were told forms would be sent from the 4th December. And that there was no need for them to wait for the bond to expire before the forms were sent. Well i got my form 1 day before it expired, on the 22nd. So, 18 days after my bond expired and more than a month after i opted to leave the bond to run i finally got my form. Today is the 6 week anniversary from Dec 4th.
No money. The FSCS have let me down im afraid.

I should have gone with my instinct and taken the electronic option. The money would be away at a better rate too.
What a load of old !!!!!!.

Guess we took the gamble of our own free will, I've still got a chance of losing less at the moment. Hope they can do better with my 2 & 3 year ones, perhaps in another year they will have settled into a reasonable routine. Who knows though, there could be more collapsed banks etc for them to deal with. Or maybe their temp staff will have finished their contracts and we'll end up dealing with the tea lady (could be an improvement!)

You're right, it was our own freewill based on information given by the FSCS.
They misled me for sure. I, like you, am still better off, at the moment. However, the two figures are converging at a rate of £15 a day. Im guessing sometime by the middle of Feb i will hit parity with taking the electronic option in mid-late Nov. Against a background of rates falling off a cliff.
The whole thing has been a PITA. And frankly the FSCS need to up their game as i have a nasty feeling theyre gonna be busier this year.

I suspect the 6 weeks starts from when they process the forms and since they sent many of them out a week before Christmas means they did not start opening the mail bags until January giving themselves until mid Feb. Clever FSCS

  • To Kittie, Nicky-boo, Strawberrylane and others were still awaiting forms last week:

I wonder if any of you have received anything yet??

You may recall that the FSCS had promised that I would receive the forms for my fixed rate bonds by the end of last week.

Still nothing here . I called FSCS again yesterday and was given a reference number and told that if the form has not arrived on Monday 19th January, to phone or email them (the usual enquiries@fscs.org.uk address) and they would send me a duplicate forms immediately. No discussion of whether an original form was ever posted to me; they don't seem to know:eek:

Will let you know what happens on Monday. Please post if any of you hear anything different.....

Do you ever get a feeling this is all down to cash flow? Every week of delay must be music to the ears of the Treasury.

No, nothing today but I am fully expecting something in the post tomorrow or Monday at the very latest.

I spoke to the FSCS today and asked them to check that my form and my wife's form had been posted this week. Whilst I was on the phone, the chap went away to check. He asked me my postcode and then came back and told me my full address (which was completely correct) and said that my form and my wife's form were in the batch which was sent out on Thursday (yesterday).

So, fingers crossed for Saturday's post! HTH.
