Icesave, Fixed Term, Cheque?

  • Returned my form today. Two of my fixed term accounts have matured since Icesave went bust. I look forward to getting a cheque for those two but obviously it will be January now.
  • Having opted on line to wait to maturity for the proceeds of my fixed rate bond (now maturing shortly, and regretting that decision), am I in the minority in still awaiting the requisite form by post?
  • oh no jj1, we are both still waiting and also regretting decision as we could do with the november money now. I rang fscs 2 days ago and they are sending the forms in batches so that the system does not get overloaded
  • Still waiting for my form for account which ended on Nov 24th. Completed on-line form on Nov 12th.
When I rang the other day, a guy (with a strong northern accent) at the FSCS told me that no forms for fixed rate accounts were being sent out till end Dec! When I said that can't be right, various people on forums had already had theirs, he said don't believe everything you read on forums!
So all you posters who say you've had your forms are fibbing. Yeah right!
Wish I'd opted to have the cash immediately. The FSCS paperwork route is rubbish imho.

  • Still no forms today for our 2 fixed rate accounts.

I called the FSCS this morning, the first time I have called them, and the girl I spoke to seemed determined to be unhelpful right from the outset. Nevertheless I persevered and was as nice as pie to her, so she eventually put me on hold and went to find out the up-to-date position regarding the sending out of the forms to fixed rate bond holders.

She said that the forms were being sent out 1st class, that they started being sent out on Wednesday 17th Dec and that they were still being sent out, although she had been told that the final "mass mailout" batch was yesterday (Tuesday 23rd december) so that as far as she was aware all of these forms have now been dispatched (and obviously should be arriving just after the christmas break). When I pushed her, she said she believed that about 20,000 forms had been sent out to fixed rate bond holders.

I have not yet received my form, nor has my wife, but based on what I was told today I'm hoping we get them both maybe next monday or tuesday. She did say to me that if we hadn't got the forms by 5th Jan that we should ring up again and let them know.

Hope that helps a bit. Hope it proves to be accurate as well! We'll see.
