The whole thing has been a PITA. And frankly the FSCS need to up their game as i have a nasty feeling theyre gonna be busier this year.

Not that it will help much with the current frustrations, but it may be wise to engage-with and feedback-on the current set of proposals which aim to see future claims paid back within 7 days...

Yes, strawberrylane, you were spot on (you must have spoken to a better-informed FSCS advisor than I did)! Form arrived today, also dated 15 January. At long last! Hope the others who were waiting also get their forms today.....

    Same here. Mine expired 22/12/08.
    I was expecting forms W/C 4/12/08.
I based my decision to leave til maturity on information from FSCS.
I will be writing to the FSCS to discuss further compensation as they have not adhered to their own timetable. Im currently losing £11 a day net interest.

I cant even be sure theyve received my completed form. This is a shambles.
    i am haemorrhaging money.
My pension has lost £6knet in a year.
My savings will return roughly £3k net a year less going forward.
Im phoning the FSCS this afternoon, will report any hard facts should i get any. Dont hold your breath anyone.
  • On the subject of further compensation, I claimed for it when I sent my form back. The relevant bit of my letter to them is as follows:

As your records will show, we claimed on-line on November 11th, and elected to wait until our Fixed Rate Account ended on November 24th. Point 37 of your FAQs led us to believe that we should be expecting payment in full for our account six weeks after you received back the form and following the closure of the account.

    37. If I choose to keep my fixed rate savings account until maturity, what will happen?
We will process your claim through the manual paper-based process so far as possible within 6 weeks of receipt of a completed application form. Once this process is complete, you will receive payment following the maturity date of the account.

This led us naturally to assume, at the time of claiming (November 11th) that we should anticipate receiving the cheque considerably earlier than will now be the case. And as you said on the phone, it was not just that the form had been lost in the post, but that it was never actually sent out.

Had we had any inkling of the delay we were likely to face, we would never have elected to go down the ‘paper route’. We therefore feel entitled to some further compensation to make up for this delay, for the loss of interest and for the fruitless phone calls we have made to your helpline, where we were I am afraid given a string of misinformation.

I'm probably whistling in the wind, but it made me feel better! Good luck to anyone else who goes the same route. How I wish Martin :money:wasn't ignoring this!
