I have emailed them a couple of times (On different subjects) the replies I got turned out to be accurate. Perhaps they are more careful what they put in writing. Could be worth a try.

I used the email address on the icesave website rather than FSCS, which did you?

Edit. Just checked the site it was actually enquiries@fscs.co.uk

  • this is the response that I received today

    Dear Icesave customer

Thank you for your recent enquiry.

Please note that due to higher than usual demand it may take us longer to answer your calls and emails, and we are currently unable to provide you with a personalised response. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Customers who have elected to keep their fixed rate account until maturity will need to complete a paper application form.

We are currently processing these requests and application forms will be sent out very shortly.

Please refer to our website for further information, which contains Frequently Asked Questions about Icesave http://www.fscs.org.uk/consumer/.

However, if you are still unsure about any matter, please call our helpline on: 0845 7300 131 (Icesave enquiries only). We will try to respond to your query as soon as possible.

    Yours faithfully

I suspect they will not be back to full speed until next week. Mind you, they must outsource this sort of stuff so probably have form processing and cheque printing taking place somewhere even if they don't get sent out until the new year.

They're probably sitting in someone's in-tray in Bangalore right now.:D
  • Thanks all for your posts; I was beginning to have a little worry that I was the only person to have not yet received the paper application form for my fixed term accounts (my OH got his what seems like weeks ago).

Just called the FSCS and was told that anyone who has not yet received the form can expect to do so by the end of next week....
    Every rule has an exception.......:rolleyes2
  • nothing today

    bah humbug
  • Nothing today for me either :-(

Hope the wait won't be too much longer as my bond already matured.
  • no forms here yet either.
  • Firstly, Happy New Year to everyone!

Right then, this is my current best guess at the situation regarding the sending out of forms to fixed rate account holders that have opted to hold until maturity.

Let me point out that it's all guesswork, but then sadly that's all we seem to have to go on at the moment!

This post is aimed at the following MSE users: kittie, nicky_boo, onawingandaprayer, oldagetraveller, drrdf4, reaper, jennyjerome1, k8r4u, implicateorder.

So far, 14 people have posted on MSE to say that they have received the forms (for fixed rate accounts being held to maturity) and it seems all of those people received their forms over the weekend of 19th/20th/22nd December. (I'm not including here people in other categories that have had forms such as ISA holders or people unable to log in to the Icesave website).

In contrast, 11 people (including myself and those listed above) that have opted to hold fixed rate accounts to maturity have posted (between 22nd - 31st Dec) to say that they have not got the forms yet.

My best guess, therefore, is that there are 2 batches of forms being sent to fixed rate account holders - the first batch was obviously sent out the week before xmas (and I reckon there were about 10,000 people in that batch). Given the fact that none of us has received a form since xmas, it appears the second batch has not been sent yet. I reckon they may send out this second batch (possibly another 10,000 forms) mid next week, to arrive over the weekend of 9th/10th/12th Jan assuming they get themselves geared up straight away next week.

Anyway, that's all conjecture but it did give me some comfort that there are still many people in the same boat as myself. It will be interesting to see when the first of us in this group posts here to say we've had the forms. I suspect we'll all be posting at the same time in about a weeks time. At least I hope so!
