  • Hey hun,
i can totally sympathsise with you on the no hot water type of baths...........we had no boiler for all of the year before the last as our back boiler packed up and we only just managed to find the money for a new one but then found it wouldnt work with our water preure. We then had to dig up our front garden and lay down a new water pipe and find the money to do it and to connect it etc.........................................we even had a cheapy kettle plugged in upstairs so we could boil the water whilst we brushed our teeth ready to have a wash!!!:eek::eek: luckily we have an electric shower and didnt have ds2.

wish i had found this site then as we sent our bills sky high using our gas fire and elecric heaters!!!:mad::mad:

Fay - Glad Mrs W and Darwin are OK, I did worry about them both! Yes the film was quite funnier than previous ones and I did enjoy it but it was hard to track sometimes and Ive read the book, going to reread it soon too.
Here is the direct link to £40 meal plan http://www.goodtoknow.co.uk/food/266969/Credit-crunch-weekly-meal-planner

Rags - We moved the kettle upstairs too, its easier than trotting up and down stairs.

Several more plumbers have been and quoted for new boiler and we have found out we will need all new pipework too as the new boilers need 22mm pipes and we have 15mm. So quotes have ranged from £1600 to £1200 none can understand how other guy quoted £850? So Mum is still going to lend us it but I still feel poopy for asking. sad0002.gif

But here is my grand plan to cover the £1200 boiler, £100 Painter and the £650 HIP for flat:

Borrow £800 from Mum for Boiler, 0% interest so payback when we can.:A
Borrow £100 from dad for painter, as above:A

Friends that are moving into flat are giving us £200 deposit, use it for HIP and then begin to pay some each month into an account so its ready and waiting for whenever they move out. Might open another in Pips name to get better interest and then he can keep whatever interest has acrued.;)

Going to ring EGG tomorrow and ask if there is any way they can either let me miss 2 months rent repayment, £480, and add 2 months on to the end of loan. I have never missed a payment to them and have been a good borrower so hopefully they will help.

OH is still in contact with CCCS to try and set up a proper DMP with them. Halifax are still demanding £500 a month and funnily enough that money tree I planted just didnt sprout!:rotfl::rotfl:

Still havent added up what I added to the CCs the other week. MUST do it, hopefully tonight. Might as well do it tonight as I feel completely S***E about money anyway so cant make me feel much worse!

On a plus, my day at work was OK. Took some calls and got on much better than I did the other day. Going to have a chat with boss tomorrow and hopefully find out what will be happening when I go back properly in September.

A nice lady from work gave me a huge bag of boys clothes including a santa suit!! :santa2: There were jeans, tops, sleeping bags and fluffy baby grows that will be perfect for dragging Pip to my mums at 7am in the winter. Going to buy her 2 children a little pressie to Thank her.

Off to do dinner and check out what you lot are up to.

  • Hi glad work went well. The £850 quote was probably for boiler only. We had ours done last year and had to have all new pipework and radiators and it cost us £2,000 (that was a neighbour to and he did it cheaper). We had the narrow pipes and had to have the bigger width pipe. Our system was in when we moved in and was about 20 years old too. Good old parents, what would we do without them hey!

I will def check that website out, most of our money goes on food, I try everything to save money on food but find it really difficult to get it down.

Things can only get better Pipsmum, just think of the reduced bills when you have your new boiler. x
  • Pah to boilers

    I love black bags presents

Right I have done the dreaded deed and added it all up and I now owe £15,422.76 which is made up of:
    £2273.06 Tesco
    £5464.79 Loan
    £659.46 Mothercare
    £125.45 Next
    £900 Mum and Dad
£6000 MBNA I have had to estimate this as it has locked me out of internet banking, I have over estimated so this might go down a bit.

This means I have added £1809.46 to my debt which sucks!

BUT it is at least its not back up to the figure it was at LBM.

So at least I know where I am at and can move onwards and upwards from here with a new efficient boiler. x x x

hi, scary to add it all up isn't it, but you're right at least it's not as bad as when you first started on the road.
Sorry to hear about the boiler, we don't have water as we can't afford the leccy, but we have shower, washer and dishwasher which heat from cold, so we have a few cold splashes but it wakes you up. Well that's what i keep telling myself
