Ha ha! Yes I think she would be quite appaled by me too!!
Some of it makes sense and I hadnt thought of but other things are just ridiculous like cleaning your sofa and carpets twice a year, yeah right!!

Well we had pants news the other day that OHs company are possibly going to stop the oncall out of hours work that he does (he sorts out IT problems from 7am till midnight every other week) and it would mean we would lose ........wait for it as its staggering.........£600 a month Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!! But of course you know these big companies cant make their flaming minds up about anything so we are left dangling. If he loses it then i will have to return to work for more than the 20 hours which is quite pants really!!

Trying not to worry too much tho. Took OH and Pip to the park this evening as it was sunny still and we had a little picnic tea and fed the duckies, OH and I had a nice chat and Pip got worn out from all the fresh air so win win and cheap.

Have added to my debts boooooooooooooooooo! Need to sit and add up how much. In the scheme of things it wont be too bad considering I havent had proper wages for the last few months and am now on zero pay. Tomorrow is pay day for me and I will be being paid the grand sum of £48 for the keeping in touch day I did the other week. Not sure how long that will keep wolf from door tho!! Lol!!! x x

Um you are one to speak look at your total - you have carved over a quarter off your debts!!!!
Us - um what did I do really - ? stop drinking wine at home and alcohol when socialising (saves an flipping fortune) - meal plan and alot of it was just chucking extra wine and food money not spent at the loan and any wee extras of course including the rent from the lodger........mumbles off, not really anything brilliant.

Did lots of things you did as well Mrs Pip Weasley............
Tidied up alot and 'found' all the toiletries and cleaning stuff I had - watered most of them down and then decided I had enough stuff to clean a battle ship so stopped buying any of that stuff
Meal planned wiht what I had in instead of htinking - um what do we fancy tonight
Did a store cupboard shop and now have my own little stash (no need to go to the supermarket)
And avidly do the things we learnt on the small things thread - its all helping :) it would seem

2 days to go then one of the overdrafts which is a thorn in my side - waves to you - I did think of you when wathcing the new harry potter, I would love a weasley house - BTW I bet she cleans her sofa's and carpets once a year..........Mrs W likes a tidy house.

DO you ever get the feeling you wish you didnt get out of bed?

Boiler packed up last night, plumberout today and basically its cream crackered, to be fair it is 25 years old! But it means we need £850 at least to get it replaced Yikes! No idea where we will find it from, raided all the places we can think of and even emptied the sealed pot. All together we have £430, Mum said she will lend us the rest but I just feel so rubbish about borrowing from her.
Sorry, miserable again. I will post something positive on here soon, honest!!!

Just wanted to give you a huge hug. Arghghghghg life eh??

Borrow the money don't feel bad about it - it makes sense to get it sorted you'd lend it to Pip - she's your MUM :) - can they do you some kind of deal where you get a service chucked in ??

On the positive side (yeah there is one - ) the new boiler will be more efficient and will save you money in the long term - Mum's loan is 0% (I assume) and brilliant that you have managed to get over half of it together - well done you.

Pants that it happenned but you have really positive solutions - and it will save you money in the longer term. Pah to boilers and their packing in on Sundays - blast and darn them to tarnation.

How's xmas plans going ?? I bought a few wee bits in Lidl today - just to keep topping the box up - I need to get it sorted out soonn and make a plan - kids with me this year - WOO HOO makes a change :)

  • Hi, been off on holiday for a week so just catching up. Been camping in Ilfracombe and it was lovely (and very MSE!). The weather was fab so a lovely holiday which the kids loved. We went with friends too so the company was good and the camping cost us just over £100 for the week, fab clean site with tractor and sledge rides for the kids every evening. Sorry to hear about the boiler. We had a new one last year which halved our bills so that is one good thing.

Hope your job will be ok Pipsmum and hope your OH does not lose the call out. When do you go back to work properly?

check out warm front, (think they have a webite but dont know address sorry....) my fella's dad has just had a new one for free as he went through them for a grant. sure you would qualify for a grant as your not earning at the moment??????

Agree with fay that the silver lining will be a more efficient boiler so possibly cheaper bills!

    BIG HUGS,
    love rags

    Hey all

Thanks for Warm Fron tip Rags. I have applied but it says it will take 21 days to be processed which is a bit pants as we have no hot water at the moment. Took a very interesting bath earlier, 2 inches of water and filled with water boiled in the kettle!
    :rotfl:

I am surprised we managed to cobble that much together to be honest but thats all our holiday money, sealed pot money and the remainder of my savings that were supposed to tide me over till pay resumes in October so its going to be REALLY difficult few months. To top it off I still have to find the £650 to pay for the flats HIP :eek::eek::eek:

You are all right about the long term benefits of a new one and at least we know that we are not going to get lumbered with another huge repair bill later in the year. I am glad it went whilst it is warm still as its a bit of a nuisance having no hot water but would be awful to be cold and have no heat.
The guy that came out was nice as he had quoted £70 call out but actually only charged us £40.

I am back at work for another 2 Keeping in Touch days (Mon & Tues) this week. Ive done our packed lunches and I batch cooked mince and turned half into a sheperds pie for Monday and the other into Bolognaise for Tuesday so easy teas for when I get home from work. Cant believ its only 2 weeks until I got back to work properly :(

Ive done my meal plan up until our hols on Sept 14th and worked out that I dont need to buy hardly anything, just a few fresh bits. Going to use a Sainsburys voucher I got from surveys to pay for those thise week.
More rubbish timing with boiler is that we had asked our friend who is a Painter and Decorater to do our hall, stairs and landing. He said he would only charge £100 so we said "heck yes!" so he is coming on Saturday, we had already paid him so no backing out. It is a fantastic price so not going to stress too much on that one. Also said I would go to Costco with Mum and Dad on Friday, still going as I need a few bits from there like washing powder and an onion sack. I am going to buy these things anyway so may as well still get them cheaper in bulk and they will last us for ages.

    Spends
    - Hols sounds nice, what MSE tips do you have for me? We are going near weston super mare in a chalet for a week.

Fay - Xmas plans were going well and I have got quite a bit of my shopping. Just as well really as I doubt I will have any money by Christmas! Well done on starting yours too x x

Still havent added up how much I have added to debt, putting it off which I know isnt good. I will do it soon.

To top it all off Pip is really grumpy and poorly. His glands are swollen and he is gagging when he eats, have had to put him back on puree not mashed. I think he has another tooth coming, what do you all think?

Well off to bed so I am fresh for my 6.30 alarm tomorrow.

    Nitey nite x x x
