No Money Mummy to Millionaire Mummy!!

So what have I been up to? Hmmmm well I went to the Jobcentre and they told me I could claim Job seekers Allowance of £71 a week until 3rd December, it won't be that long though as obviously Pea will be here by then and I will be on Maternity Allowance. They also said there was next to no chance of me finding work given that I am already 23 weeks pregnant and my hours are limited due to childcare for Pip now Mum has to look after Dad more, they said I had to keep trying and providing evidence that I was searching so thats what I am doing.
Other big news is that Mr Pip will have no work as of 4th July  so getting a bit worried now, the woman he was covering for has decided she is coming back from Maternity Leave (nobody thought she would) so his contract finishes. He is waiting to hear on one that he had a couple of interviews for so everybody cross your fingers please!
My Redundancy money has been paid to me but obviously with the uncertainty of Mr Pips getting work I have decided not to clear all my debts straight away, as that leaves me with some to enable us to pay mortgage. If he gets work quickly then I can go back to the original plan but I thought it would be a bit stooopid to leave ourselves with completely nothing to spare.
I have made a few big payments though so debts now stand at:Next £0!!!:T
MBNA £819 :T
Tesco £692
Mothercare £44
Egg Loan £2410
Total debt remaining now is £3965!!! :j:j
Meaning I have paid off £13,759So thats me, whats new with Y`all?Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

Hampsterpoo you are alive and Thanking, I am so pleased :-) I honestly wondered about you the other day!
Well had really pants news as Mr Pips didnt get that job so as it stands both unemployed as of 4th July, hoping he can get something contracting but means he will have to travel further so will need much more money for petrol as he currently walks to work.
Not dwelling or stressing over it, what will be will be and nothing more than we are doing anyway can change it. So positives for today are:
Went to Vodafone and changed both our contracts to SIM only, for tenner a month we will be getting 300 minutes, 500mb internet and unlimited texts so I am pleased.
Cancelled RAC renewal of £76 and going with AA for £30 with £20 cashback, whoop whoop!
Went for my 1st signing on review at Job centre, lady was really rude at first but then when looked at my tracker thing and CV completely changed her tune and actually turned out to be really nice and helpful. I know they deal with some horrible people but its a shame they treat everyone horrible until proved otherwise should be other way round surely? Anyway she said same as other lady, going to find it really difficult finding a job (knew that anyway!) most I could hope for was a few hours here and there temping, she said I was obviously a copliant and professional person and as long as I kept producing a tracker the same as this one each 2 weeks I would have no problems proving to them I was just a genuine person with unlucky circumtances and they would keep paying JSA. Told he about OH job and she gave some advice on his CV too when I told her he keeps getting turned down for roles because " he is over qualified and would get bored".
Got a few more Christmas presents sorted today for £19 I got 14 items from Bodyshop, free postage over £15 and if your a new customer you can use NEW25 for an extra 25% off the sale price, and 12% cashback through topcashback. 3 more people done and a couple of stocking fillers. Know it may seem strange spending money on Christmas when we both wont have a job but I had already set aside this money for Christmas and figure it possibly could only get worse as months go on so grabbing bargains as I see them so people get a little something.
Anyhooo MAHOOOSIVE post, sorry if you nodded off there a lttle!

So there is light at the end of the tunnel folks , between us we had 3 redundancies and lots of wage drops but thanks to the help and support of this site and members we got there in the end.

I still LOL at your signature Hampster! Well done to you on clearing debts through so much trouble, I hope you have a really wonderful and well earned holiday x x
Nothing new to report here, Mr Pips applied for another 12 jobs today so fingers crossed something comes up.
Peas steriliser arrived today, got a really good deal from Amazon £40 for 8 large bottles, 2 small, 6 milk powder dispensers, tongs and of course an electric steriliser. Also picked up the new baby bouncer we got for half price thanks to Mr Ts clubcard exchange. Only needed a few bits, thanks to putting all Pips stuff up the loft, a cot, bouncer, steriliser and pram (his was 2nd hand in the first place). Of the bits we did needed to replace I have managed to only pay maybe £100 for the lot thanks to Vouchers, clubcard exchange and using Ebay sales to pay for bits.

:T Welldone on being so resourceful with the baby things.
I know kids do get expensive, (although when they are very young they only really need be as expensive as we let them be as after the essential equipment - cot, bottles, etc etc - we spend our money on things we just want them to have!
I hate these things you read that say the 'average' cost of having a baby is all these umpteen thousands of pounds. I read one lately and it gave a bit of a breakdown of the cost of pregnancy and up to a childs' 1st birthday. It had allowed about £1200 just for the cot, mattress and other nursery furniture. I know you can get sets for that, but you could also use Tesco offers and Clubcard exchange vouchers and get a free cot - and a wardrobe / chest of drawers can be got pretty cheaply too.Half of November Make £10 a Day Challenge: £51/ £1700
