Oh i am so sorry to hear about your friend, i am thinking of you and your friends family at this very sad time
Sorry to change the subject, what a difficult choice you have to make regards work. If i were in your shoes, i think i would be heading towards choosing taking the redundancy option and payout. I just couldn't be out of the house for that many hours a day and the commute would kill me aswell, esp if there was a car accident and i got delayed by hours getting home etc. I know you would still be in debt but you said your outgoings would be less and you may get another job nearby that pays the difference?
I completely get why you would want to give it ago tho, obv having a job is great and its lovely of them to cover petrol costs for a long time.

Def agree with Smarties, yes everything may sound nice on paper, but reality is always different, it may sound daft but if you sat down and worked out what your expenditure would be not working, ie hubbys wage, tac credits, CB, compared to outgoings, you did it on maternity leave when you were expecting pip, and maybe (in the nicest of ways) this is the kick up the rear to look at new start, try for brother or sister and reevaluate life. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
What scares me most about work is that if I don't take redundancy and do the commute for a few weeks and hate it I really am screwed as I will have no payout to fall back on, also I keep thinking of £6000 off my debts and how long it will take to clear that through working! But at work I get some good benefits like shares, pension and also the opportunity of the car and full pay maternity leave for 6 months. I think when I do my "aspirations" I will have next level up as 1st Aspiration, redundancy as 2nd and same level as 3rd option. I dont know if the job centre and that will not pay me anything as it was my choice to take redundancy. The other option is to basically be awkward and make myself "displaced" which then means forced redundancy.

I'm pretty sure that if you took redundancy, you'd be entilted to 6 months JSA, (based on your NI contributions) over a set time period.
Its a hard one and theres a lot to juggle throu, just if you've got a commute and then do a full day - come back, you may find its almost not worth it. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Might be worth going to the job center and ask them what you would be entitled to if you chose redundancy?? They should be able to tell you everything you can receive and then you will be clearer on what the situation will be before you make up your mind.
I agree that it could be a very long day with all the travel etc. What kind of time will you get home in the evening?? Will you get time with pip before his bed time etc??
Such a hard choice for you and i hope you can make the choice soon xxGC: Nov: £60.22/£450 Oct: £338.48/£450, July: £363.05/£450, June £447.98/£500£2 savers No68: £104/£100 :j:jmummy to: 8yr, 5yr, 3yr, 2yr, 1yr. No6 Due Mar 2013 My world.:j0
