Mum2one - Snow is a very valid point but most of the journey is motorway.
In truth I dont see I have much choice but to travel, I couldnt earn as much as I do for the hours I do from any other company. They are paying my petrol so I dont need to worry about that, and I might actually come out better off. So I think I have to at least attempt it.Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

Sounds like a horrible choice!! Sounds like you will have to go for it - good they are paying petrol etc
You can always give it a try for a while and see how the extra hrs etc affect pip and keep a look out for something local at the same time??
Good luck with your choice....GC: Nov: £60.22/£450 Oct: £338.48/£450, July: £363.05/£450, June £447.98/£500£2 savers No68: £104/£100 :j:jmummy to: 8yr, 5yr, 3yr, 2yr, 1yr. No6 Due Mar 2013 My world.:j0 -
And todays bad news is Pip has Chicken Pox...........................not panning out to be a great week!!
Oh and had to go to the other office today and on way home there were 2 big accidents, 1 on either side of the M1. This sent me off into, totally paranoid, "what if I crash and leave Pip an orphan" thoughts.Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

what horrible news, we're under threat at work as well and it's tough to make a decision about what to do (there's the potential for our jobs to move too in a few years time so i'm thinking these things through myself). If you took the travel allowance for the year would you think about moving nearer the new place? I guess you'd have to make a decision by then as the allowance would stop. I know you were worried about schools where you are so maybe this could be the chance to make a move. Sorry don't know the finer details but maybe something else to think about.0

Hi All
Pips doing OK with his chicken pox, luckily he has still been well in himself. Lots of spots, especially in his nappy area, tops of legs and bum. We have been using Calamine in his bath each night and giving him Piriton and he is being such a good boy with not scratching. Mum and Dad took him to a little zoo park today as he is no longer contagious!:D
The plot thickens with work. They will pay us 100% of our travel costs for the first 3 years which is fantastic.
LT its an awesome plan to move nearer the new office but not really practical for OHs work and at the end of the day he is very much the main breadwinner given I am only part time. But as I say it would have been a good plan
Like I've said before I could end up doing well from this but I guess my main worry is that I don't take severance and decide to travel then 2,3,6, whatever, months down the line I get fed up of a 2 hour commute and I am screwed as I have no pay out to fall back on.
I've been trying to figure out what we might be entitled to if I took redundancy and stopped working for a few years to look after Pip and Pips future brothers or sisters. One website said nothing and the other said £500 a month, quite a difference I'm sure you will aggree!!!:D Given that the redundancy pay would clear a huge chunk of my debts and therefore significantly reduce my monthly outgoings (more than halve it) we could manage on £500 with OHs wage.
I hate, hate, hate having to make this decision:(:(:(:(

can you see if your workplace will do a trial period? mine gives you a trial of 4 weeks in a new job if you've been put at risk to see if it works out for you and for them. Worth and ask as as they're a big company they may be more likely to do so so they don't get accused of constructive dismissal or anything.0
