WebSaver1 from British Gas

  • Oh God, we have a new British Gas Stepford Husband in our midst. Seriously, where do they get these people from??

PS There's NO WAY a regulator who had the public's interests at heart should even contemplate allowing an energy company to impose exit penalties on ANY tariff let alone a variable rate one. Just beggars belief...
    Call me Carmine....

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
  • Yes, smidgey, obviously I can see where the tariff is displayed there. What is annoying me is that I am not allowed to access the older versions of my bills to confirm what tariff I was on. In any case, I will just assume that I am wrong.

Are you prepared to defend the fact that, while the price of oil has gone down by more than 50% since the energy price hikes back in July, British Gas have not passed this on to consumers?
  • Smidgey, can you do aummat about that HUGE gas statement you've kindly reproduced in your post, it's playing havoc with the page settings., TIA!

I wondered how long it would take for you to pop up. Call me whatever you like mate and keep spitting your venom.

I guess you will just have to switch to the standard tariff now to earn your cashback rewards?

Give the online team a quick call to see why you cannot access your older bills and they can confirm the tariffs for you.

I am not going to defend it no. I could take the company line and say the gas you're using was purchased several months ago when prices were high etc as this is what we are told. I know others say that's rubbish but I cannot say if it is or it isn't as I am not high up enough within the organisation to know this. As a consumer myself I am currently not worried about rises and decreases until 2010.

I hope prices go down soon though, it certainly raises spirits when then do!!
  • Well, fair enough. I can't quote a source but what I've "heard" is that British Gas should be responsive to the market price of oil with about a month's delay, based on how often they need to replenish their stocks... which means we should have had reductions LONG ago.

P.S. I just wrote my MP. EVERYONE write your MP and ask them to take action to make sure consumers are treated fairly.

Direct Debits are a different subject for a different thread but I can tell you the examples I have looked at that have been raised via the media or MP's have been bang on give or take a couple of quid.

Pity u arent looking at my complaint then, 69.00 a month BG tried to force on me when i use little or no gas. When I gave BG this information all I got was keep paying the 69.00 a month until your payments are reviewed in February.

Older bills have now vanished from the online accounts since a few weeks ago. ( probably so BG can stick to one of their lines that they have no awareness of someones previous consumption) :rotfl:

    AstarothCY,

Not saying this is what happened in your case, but if they get a bounce back from your email address they may move you to the standard rate. (It's something about having to get a bill to you, and without an active email adress they revert to paper and therfore standard.)
I'm not in the web team so they will probably be able to tell you what happened. Give them everything you have (dates, what was agreed, with whom), and give it to the complaints bit on the website, and ask them to back date the tariff to when it was agreed. The might not do it, but it's worht a shot.

Mine haven't... I've got them back to May 2006, and have checked my paperwork, and this is when I switched to paperless billing.

I know there has been a problem recently where some people who were on paperless billing but changed tariff got paper bills... give them a call and check whether you've been moved off paperless billing, or its just a first paper bill with the new tariff and you'll be back to paperless billing for next time
  • No my old bills have now turned up but the lay out is very different..better I think?

I had all sorts of complications when I changed over to E7..in July as I wasn't then put on to E7 but remained on single tariff..it has taken several calls to sort it out...but I'm still unclear if they have really charged the right tariffs with all the price changes..
and also missed out on Essentials tariff

I have a letter to say I am now on Click 6 but I can't find anything on my online account to say what tariff I am on..is it there somewhere? and I haven't found it?

and I now have a green tick by paperless billing so have I gone paperless? I didn't know I had:confused:

I only found out about Websaver1 today when checking my account..I knew nothing about it or hadn't heard anything on the news.
I'm assuming from what people are saying with the exit tariff charge it is better to hang on until the alledged New year possible price drops ..but somehow i have a sense that might be affected by 'higher than average uses because of cold weather' so we can't pass this on??? or am I just a very broke cynic struggling to keep warm:rolleyes:
