Good evening all. I managed to get myself somewhat in gear today and got a few things done. Handwashed some sweaters and they're on the airers drying. Then I headed to Aldi's for a few things we need to tide us over until after Christmas. We'll be spending Christmas Eve through Boxing Day with our daughters so no cooking!
Was on my way home and saw a wonderful game in the window of our local animal sanctuary charity shop. Brand new still in the wrapper and something DH will love. I was quite chuffed.
I ended up making a nice apple pie with my extra pastry. It came out lovely looking. Hopefully it will taste nice when we have it later.
We had our breakfast for dinner tonight. DH enjoyed it quite a bit and that always make me feel good when the people I cook for enjoy. I tried a bit and managed some toast, beans and a small piece of bacon. The tummy isn't feeling quite right tonight. I'm hoping I'm not getting the tummy bug that has been going around.
I got most of the decorations up this afternoon. There is an advantage to having a tiny flat when it comes to that. :rotfl: I've realized that our 3 foot Christmas tree is going to need a few more decorations than the lil one foot one we had last year. I think I'll take a browse at my fave charity shop tomorrow and see what they have. I got some adorable baubles etc for no more than 10p each last year.
Heading off now for a quick cleanup in the kitchen then off to lie down for a bit with a cuppa tea.
Lots of gentle hugs to all who need and want them.

Hello all. Been a busy day in the soba household. Last day at school for the kids, so I've taken the opportunity to get a bit of Christmas cookery done. Today I've made fruity Christmas biscotti for Christmas presents, 18 mince pies which are now half gone and a key lime pie. DH has made a syrup for mulled wine and then gone to work this afternoon. This week I've also made chocolate marquise - a Gordon Ramsay recipe - we're going to a friends for dinner tomorrow and everyone's taking food. I'll be taking the choc marquise and key lime pie and maybe some mice pies if there's any left. Also for our friends is a Kilner jar of fruity biscotti and a copy of 'The Curry Secret' as a thank you for hosting the evening. Luckily I got to choose puddings and could make them in advance, tomorrow we're bag packing with the Scouts at M&S so time'll be short.
Did get my Christmas cake out ready for marzipanning (sp) but never got round to doing it. Perhaps I'll get the kids to give me a hand with it in the holidays.:D
Well that's my day done. Night night everyone.0 -
Cranky - sorry to hear about your colleague (((hugs))) to Sheila's family and friends xxxDo what you love :happyhear0

Oh Halight - so sorry about the job - here's hoping you find another better one soon
Taplady - hugs
a big yipee to all those finishing work and school today - I only have monday to go now
But wait ... I hear you say ...... shouldn't you be largeing it with the girls and four vodkas down by now - well the best laid plans of mice (pies?) and men. Mr caring sharing was for once on time and picked up dd and then .... dd(19) called to say that she has the nasty vomity thing that dgs(4) had earlier in the week so I have picked him up for the night so she can rest. It's only fair as this time last week I was dumped on her doorstep a bit the worse for wear and swearing never to touch a drop again and she looked after me brilliantly - that's karma - although I don't suppose she deserved to get sick.
Anyhoo - tea was pizza out of the freezer - sighI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Late post from me, thought I needed an early night tonight, but it didn't happen...too much stuff to do and so little time, so am just having a little me time now before tomorrows stuff starts.
Halight - sorry to hear about your job. Love hearing about your twins
Taplady - (((hugs))) Pleased to hear that today went as well as it could do.
Vicky - sorry to hear that your mum needs another op, I know how upsetting this is
Beth - yes you are :A
Sybil - my DS once called to us and sounded far, far away, that was because he had managed to climb up onto his sisters headboard and get out of the window  onto the roof below:eek:, cue me grabbing his leg and getting my then OH to come and rescue us both.....DS says afterwards, mummy and daddy was cross. Understatement! we then had to get someone in to fit restraints to the windows....never thought a child would get out as they were very high up the wall and narrow! Kids!!!!!!!
Am very sorry for not metioning all the posts, but hope the rest of you had a good day or if not big (((hugs))) for you.
OS wise today I gave the living room a good going over, mainly because I was rearranging furniture so we can have our 'early christmas' on Sunday with room to breathe. Did the usual DW and WM. Tea tonight was just for me as OH is out tonight and was leftover pasta bolognaise
