Always fast freeze if you can, that is where you put the hot food in the container and then put it straight in the freezer, it freezers a lot quicker than cooled food and hence has less chance of anything going wrong.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I cut down 2ltr milk bottles in half to put stuff like curry; casseroles, and soup in. I line them with cheap sandwich bags off a roll. Then when the food is half frozen and will retain the square shape remove the milk bottle. What a fabby idea thanks will try that. we get through lot of milk!
i buy pack 6 from poundstetcher 6 for £1 they clear square with plastic clear lids same as chinese but rarly have chinese.
they fo 500ml, which bit small.
750ml 1lite wjich is 4 for £1.
I would say get 2-3uses as yes they stain and they go brittle and break.

I usually freeze individual portions in plastic freezer boxes.
Once frozen, I remove the food from the boxes and put it into individual cheapo freezer bags which I then, in turn, stack into decent quality large freezer bags.
This means I free up my boxes for immediate use, and once empty, the large freezer bags are clean and can be used again after a quick wash.0 -
I use all sorts of different containers - some I've bought, some margarine/spread tubs etc. I use masking tape to label the contents - sticks to most things, easy to write on with a biro and comes off the container easily before washing.0

I just save any plastic container I get be it takeaway or container from supermarket and reuse. I do agree takeaway ones are the best friends at work also bring them for me as they know I cook and freeze all my own food.Why pay full price when you may get it YS0

I wouldn't put hot food into the freezer-it would raise the temperature of everything around it surely, making the freezer work harder at best, partially defrosting surrounding items at worst? I leave to cool then freeze.
Lasagne I freeze uncooked in foil trays or ceramic dishes (I have quite a few) If I have cooked a lasagne and have leftover, I wait for it to cool and set (I find it becomes less runny once cool) then divide into portions and wrap in clingfilm (a few layers) then foil or into a freezer bag
I freeze individual portions of leftovers for lunches etc in plastic takeaway tubs. bolognase/chilli/stews etc get frozen in large, thick pour and store bags (99p from sainsbury for 8 I think-they aren't the cheapest, but they don't get punctured in my unorganised freezer, and they don't leak when defrosting-which I find regular freezer bags do) . Really rich pasta sauces (I slow cook beef in tomatoes and it makes a really concentrated ragu) get frozen in 300ml cream tubs-as this is the perfect portion size for 2 people (OH likes more sauce with his bolognase-we prob have about 500mls of that, but I can get away with less of the ragu)

I've also used the £1 land tubs. They are excellent and I would recommend them.
I also use bags, just the ordinary sandwich bags are fine. No need to buy special freezer bags.
I put "meals" in the tubs and things like, say 3 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon (meals portions for us) in bags. Or leftover gravy.
For pouring the gravy I drape a bag over a freezer box and pour the gravy/liquid whatever, in, then tie the top and put the whole lot in the freezer. Once its frozen you can free up the container. The bag then sits in its frozen shape IYSWIM.0
