Have you tried looking in the cash & carry - if you have access or can beg or borrow a card - they have these brilliant plastic lunchboxes with lids (meant for takeaways i think, you'll find them with the burger and pizza boxes), I always freeze leftovers and microwave in them. Sorry can't remember how much they are, but they can be reused so many times, and dishwasher safe too. Also try pound shops / cheapy places, I got some nice round containers 10 for £1 which are lasting well.0

Do you have a pound shop where you live? I got a pack of five plastic ones from mine and they've lasted well. I bought ones with flat lids so i could stack them easily in the freezer.0

I only have a few containers as they drive me potty when they need storing in the cupboard, but what I do is freeze the meal in a container, then once frozen I pop it out and into a plastic bag. That way I have blocks or slabs of food, which only take up their own space in the freezer (no waste space). You need to put a sticky label on to identify it! Currently I have a stack of slabs of vegetable soup frozen into thermos-sized portions and just take one out and put it in a pyrex to defrost/heat and my work lunch is sorted.0

I have used the foil trays and tend to wash the lid and re-use until its seen better days, then I just cover them with foil.
Other than that I use the plastic Chinese takeaway containers (not that I have one very often), that I have kept for years.
I used to buy Vitalite many years ago so still use those containers.
I also have pour and serve bags and freezer bags.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Yup, I can relate - I have loads in my larder cupboard!
I find that if I put chutney etc. in a big jar we get fed up with it and the half jar sits in the fridge forever, but since I've been asking people to save their baby food jars for me and using those, that they get used up. The baby food jar is just enough for people not to get bored, so then I bring out another flavour of jam/chutney/whatever. It's also a nice size for little gifts - a chutney, a jam and some lemon curd, say, each in a diddy little jar makes for a nice thoughtful gift for someone.0 -
