I would never reheat in a plastic container as it is supposed to be harmful.
I always put it into a pyrex dish.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
I buy mine in Costco, they come in boxes of a few hundred for £7-ish but they are definately worth it as they last quite a while and stack really well in the freezer and stand up to mirowaving.
As they get tatty and split I recycle them as fortunately our council accept plastics. I prob wouldn't buy them otherwise as I would feel too guilty about the extra landfill0 -
HOme Bargains have containers suitable for freezing, reheating and sometimes a bonus are dishwasher proof as well.0

I buy mine from Poundland or similar. They are still very cheap but some shops have got quite sneaky lately as label says something like pk of 10 when it means 5 boxes and 5 lids! I find they stack in the cupboard so don't take too much room when empty.
Good tip for labelling for freezer. Put a small strip of masking tape on lid and write on that.0 -
I too use marg tubs for the freezer, I do not use them for heating food.:grouphug:0

If you have a Chinese supermarket near you they usually sell big bags of them quite cheaply - the people who run takeaways buy from them. You can usually get the foil ones with lids, too.0

Thanks everyone!
Well I did my first batch cooking yesterday - made 18 portions of HM chilli and bolganese and 4 portions of HM curry. Some is in plastic containers and will be transferred into freezer bags once I get time later. The rest went straight into a freezer bag (made way more than anticipated) which I flattened out and lay flat in the freezer.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Just wanted to post a warning to the many other users on here who like us, probably wash their foil containers and re-use them for freezing. Before filling them with any product which contains liquid (stewed fruit, bolognese sauce, etc) fill them with water, leave for a few moments and check that they don't leak !
We've just had a frustrating experience preparing and filling four of these containers with a mousaka mixture with egg on top, only to find that two of them have developed a small leak. We've now got egg mixture leaking all over the baking tins. We've put them inside another equal sized container but if we'd done the leak check in the first place, the problem would have been avoided.0 -
What do you use and where do you get them from?
I bought 10 of the little foil ones which chinese come in for 99p from £stretcher but onced the lids are used as its paper on the other side they need throwing away. i've kept the pots and cover the contents in foil but just wondered what everyone else uses.0 -
