That's why I freeze mine first and then bag it - because I was pants at getting the soup in the bag and not having folds everywhere and basically I just made a mess! I find it much easier to freeze and then bag but YMMV (and does, evidently!)0

wow thanks you all given me some fantastic ideas, especially freezing in a bag in the pot and then removing! :T0

Some great ideas on this thread, personally am also considering how useful these http://www.lakeland.co.uk/1.5-litre-soup-%27n%27-sauce-bags/F/product/10914_10915 might be - don't know if anyone here has used them, but reviewers on the Lakeland site talk about reusing them many times over..

I presume its for sweet american muffins? and you can add bits (mmm raspberry and white choc mmm) I love muffins and love to make them in the morning to take to work, but sometimes (ok-always:o) not quite awake enough to weigh ingredients, so this sounds perfect; thanks in advance
Of course!
Muffin mix:
8 cups plain flour; 3 cups sugar; 3 tblsps baking powder; 2 tsps salt; 2 tsps ground cinnamon; 2 tsps ground nutmeg. Mix everything together and put in a large, sealed tub.
Method:
Preheat oven to 400F. Grease muffin tins (or use paper cases). In a bowl, combine 1 beaten egg, 1 cup of milk and half a cup of vegetable oil. Mix well. In a larger bowl, measure 2 and three-quarter cups of muffin mix. Tip the liquid into the muffin mix all at once and stir. Mixture should be lumpy. Fill prepared cases or tins three-quarters full. Bake 18-20 mins until golden brown.
Banana muffins: mash one banana and add to liquid ingredients before adding to muffin mix
Blueberry muffins: fold one cup fresh or frozen blueberries into batter just before filling cases
Peach muffins: add one cup fresh diced peach to batter before filling cases
Choc-chip: add bits of chocolate to batter before filling cases
etc. etc.
As this is a proper American recipe, THEY ARE NOT TERRIBLY SWEET. You may find that you want to up the sugar content if you are used to the sort of muffins you get in Tesco.0 -

How do I wash ziplock freezer bags?
In hot water with washing up liquid, would suggest turning them inside out before washing. Rinse, then air dry upside down on the draining board, festooned elegantly over something like a wooden spoon or anything that will keep them open while they dry.0 -
Thanks Chipps... I supposed that was a stupid question. I thought I remembered someone saying that they put them in with the washing!! What a great thread with loads of ideas!
Does anyone know if the nesting round containers with blue lids (365 range?) from IKEA are microwave safe for heating food? I've only ever used these for cold foods so would be interested to hear if they are.

No, I don't think it was a stupid question. I have seen the suggestion to put them in with the washing, but not certain about the idea - the thought of washing it in with the knickers etc, _pale_ the water would need to be very hot!!!0 -
Have a set of IKEA boxes. Square/oblong which I have had for about 17 years. They are freezer/microwave/dishwasher safe and were about £2.95. Down to my last 2 small ones now. Use them daily. I think they still sell them at about that price too. Large ones great for soup for 2, medium are great for potion of chilli etc for one. Small for odds and ends eg tomato puree etc. All the family use them and we are not a careful family with such things!
Also I reuse the soup containers (£1 on special offer in Morrisons etc). When I have used the soup I reuse for more (homemade) soup. Last for ages. Sorry if this has been mentioned but haven't enough time to read whole thread.0
