    Hi meimei! :hello:

sorry you didn't have such a good time with your family, they can be annoying at times I know! Sometimes I am glad that we are not near any of my family and other times I miss them.

Like FYP said, if you have any questions at all about the forms, stick them up on the main board, then all the experts can see them and help out. Are you doing them online or on paper?

Glad that you came on tonight to let us know how it is going.

  • I had been considering BR (and lurking on this forum) for about a year before I did the dastardly deed on the 16th December, dont worry about court, the judge will only want to see you if you arnt insolvent or you havnt taken any advice (Citizens advice, CCCS etc) was in and out in 45 mins, ORs office called me for around ten mins on the 17th, is sending me something through the post but dont have it yet

I found the hardest thing was filling in the forms kept going back to them over a couple of weeks

Hi puckoon, thanks for the advice,

I hope that I don't have to see the judge and I am in and out of the court that quickly!

I agree about the forms though, mine are all completed online, I just have to do the final click and send them in but I have been completing them gradually over the past couple of months! :D

  • Well, after several false starts and two cancelled br court dates, we have our final date of 23 January at 10.30.

The last date we cancelled was 6th Jan, as there was no way we could have had everything organised by then.

It's 5.45 am and I haven't been to bed yet - in such a state about it all.

Have a night or two like this every now and again. In a way I am looking forward to the 23rd Jan to get the court bit over and done with, but know on the day I will be an utter mess. It isn't really helped by my OH always looking so disappointed and terribly worried every time we get another letter threatening court action.

The thing I am most dreading though is the OR interview and finding out exactly how we will stand financially afterwards.

Well, should be at least trying to get some sleep.....

Hope I am able to offer support to fellow January bankruptees, I will check in most days.

Hi Dorothy, it is the unknown that is scary but just think of all the debt you will be getting rid of. How much is that worth to you?

Hi Dorothy56, have added you onto the list and glad you joined us.

are you both going BR? You will get through it together, from all I have read on here, the majority of people have had positive experiences of the court and their staff.

With the letters, open them, scan through them quickly, make sure there is nothing urgent needing attention - threats of court action are usually just that - threats and nothing more - it is official paperwork from the actual court you need to watch for. then if they are just the usual letters, file them away - in the bin if you prefer! ;)

Then go and chill out a little, listen to your favourite music or watch a movie!

edit - I see you have prepared your soa and posted it on the main board for advice. So you are in the same position as I am, playing a bit of a waiting game. Still it does give you time to just go over everything and make sure it is ok. Just don't do it too much and try not to worry but I know that it is hard

Hope that you got some sleep, we all support each other and this board is so helpful. And I will be on here on the 7th to tell everyone how I got on.

Hope to see you on here later on. (((hugs))) :D

  • Good Morning everyone.....

Well here I am at work (as usual) but it is quiet so plenty of time to do a bit of posting! :D
Things are ticking along and I don't have too many scary thoughts, just now and again, but mostly very relieved that there is a way out of the debt mire that I have got myself into......
Every Monday I pay my Provident doorstep loan (£15) and I have been trying to build up the strength to not pay it for the next two weeks before I go BR on the 12th Jan. As I have said before, the collector is a bit of a "force to be reckoned with" and I really don't fancy squaring up to her. I think I will pay her tomorrow and then miss the payment on 5th Jan..... I am brave enough to miss 1 week I think!
My car needs a new door handle and I think I may get an estimate from the dealers and ask the OR if I can pay for it out of my Jan surplus. No harm in asking and then from Feb onwards I will make sure that my overtime is only enough to give me a £99 surplus - not enough for an IPA and giving me time to get a life..... yippee :T
A question now for those of you with a co-op cashminder account. What do you do if you need to pay for something through the post and online payment isn't used?
The reason this has come up is that I was looking at renewing my 10yr passport which costs £72. Can I get a postal order for this amount?
This is all a bit new to me - has anyone else come across this?

Have a good day everyone...... and remember, January is just around the corner........:j

    Blimey, You are good Donna.

I spent about an hour and a half on Friday trawling through the Passport and Post Office sites - how on Earth did I miss that? :o

    Doh!
