I have tried to get them to pay me by giro since last year and seem to be stuck in the system, it is the Child Tax Credit - child benefit and incapacity benefit do not seem to have been a problem but the CTC is a freeking nightmare

Oh thanks for clarifying that. Hopefully it the OR may be able to help you get your hands on it. Best wishes

I should think a daily verbal kick up the ar*e might just "unstick" something.....

This is downright criminal if you ask me!

  • Yeah I agree.
Not sure on the legalities of it tho but would love to know.
Similarly last year this girl at work got paid into a frozen account - she had changed banks 3 months prior but the payroll system had thrown up her old bank details.
She could not touch her money and the company took absolutely no responsibility for it and even had the audacity to tell her that they would give her a months wages, out of goodwill.... but she would have to repay it in full in installments!!
I would have told them to F.O.A.D but I am sure they must have checked their legal stand point before making so rash as a decision

I hope they don't balls up putting my pay into my new Co-op this month. Otherwise I'll be more screwed than Annabel Chong at a sexathon

    Morning M,

Funny you should say that, I got the heebie jeebies over this and actually spoke to my HR dept on Monday to make sure that they had the new bank details on the payroll system. I have got it confirmed in writing and so if they do balls up they will just have to pay me again .... and I won't be paying it back!
Sometimes I think that we Brits put up with far too much from the powers that be - time to fight back! ;)
The benefits thing really galls me though - it is playing with peoples lives and that is just not on.

Top of the morning to you too SA

I sent them my new bank details in writing too and I made it clear that I would have a problem if it went into the old account. I am sure my HR manager must have figured out what I am doing now as his ex-girlfriend went BR about 3 years ago so he must know that is the reason I have a Co-op account. That, plus the fact that I accidentedly left my Experian Credit Report in the ladies loos at work last week!! :o I could have died

Hi everyone, I have had my CHB and Tax credits paid into my account so I know thats all ok and my wages, I called HR and changed the details but we can also log in at work and check the details they have and I checked and they have my new details. So if something goes wrong with mine it is definitely no fault of mine!

I am not certain whether I have left an email at work from my manager about my BR! I hope not! :o:o:o It's just I can't seem to find it at home anywhere. I am not very good at looking after my paperwork.

    Jeez,
That's the sort of daft thing that I would do! I have a feeling that a good few people where I work have sussed out with me too. What with cutting my hours right down, making it clear that I am not making any more trips abroad like I used to, and telling people I am sorting my finances out..... people have put 2 + 2 together.
The funny thing is, loads of people are in a financial sh*t street here and you can see that they are dying to ask all sorts of questions, but frightened to actually ask me if I really have gone down the BR route!
When I see them struggling and getting all worked up about paying the bills and c/cs like I used to I feel so relieved that I have gone and done it.
    Phew......

  • I'm glad I've made the decision too.

Were the trips abroad for business or pleasure? I hope I don't have to go out of the office this year as we have to front costs then claim things back as expenses so it will be a right pain if I can accounting for every penny.

Did you see Bust last night? I feel so sorry for that poor sick man who went BR but he is still struggling

  • No I haven't seen it yet, it is on Sky+ so I'll watch it later. I know I am going to get angry from what people are saying on here.
The trips were pleasure...... a few years back I lived for a while in the Caribbean, came back to the UK leaving a man and horse behind..... boo hoo.... don't know which caused the most sadness...... yes I do, the horse!
Anyway, finally sold the horse last January for peanuts and finished with the man in November so it really is a new start for me.
I have thanked my lucky stars so much that I have had all this to take my mind off the achy breaky heart!
Gets a bit better week by week...... Fresh start time, better late than never..

I Sky+'d it but felt compelled to stay up and watch it late last night

Which island? My parents live in the Caribbean
