  • Well I thought it was all over after not hearing anything for 3 months.....................

I have this morning recieved a letter from Colemans ctts Solicitors in Manchester

    The letter reads

Our Client UK Parking Control Limited
    Amount Due: £102.49

We have been instructed by our above-named client to apply to you for immediate payment of the above sum in respect of your outstanding account. Our client is unaware of any reason why this sum should not be paid.

Unless therefore we receive your remittance in the above sum, made payable to UK Parking Control Limited within SEVEN days from the date of this letter we have the authority to commence legal proceedings against you.

If for any reason you dispute the claim being made against you please provide us with details so that we may investigate this matter further.

Please note all communication in relation to this matter should be in writing quoting the above reference number.

    Signed............

I have checked their website and they seem ligitimate. The letter is also persoanlly signed in pen.

Has anyone else had this letter as I can't see it on the other forums?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Many Thanks

Received same letter myself. Suspect they are trying every last ditch effort to get money before the law changes later this year.
  • Can I assume that you won't be paying then?? ;).

I'm unaware of what the law is chaging to, can you give me some info or a link to something??

    Cheers.

Colemans ctts seem to have sent reams of these out lately! Seen a few over the last week or so. Although they are a company of solicitors does not take away the fact they are still only acting as debt collector. Maybe they are struggling and took on hard to recover debts?
  • Yes you could be right, they could just be struggling to find cases in the current financial climate and are just acting as debt collectors to pass the time!

"we have the authority to commence legal proceedings against you"

    Nice turn of phrase.

Nowhere does it say that they "will" commence proceedings.

As for saying that they "look legitimate". Don't forget there there are bent solicitors out there trying to make a quick buck (not that I am saying that this company falls under that category.

Don't forget all those solicitors who were struck off for helping themselves to money destined for the coal-miners compensation fund, or the Leeds solicitor who was mixed up in a "boiler house" scam.

Have no intention of paying anything. The law change refers to bogus parking companies, illegal clampers and the like. Was in the papers this week but can't remember when - most probably The Metro or Evening Standard as that's all I looked at in past week.
  • First of all I would like to thank the many people who give their time sharing their advice and tales which has supported me through the many letters that i have received from UKPC etc.

I have followed your advice and ignored each letter, from ukpc their debt collectors and now the standard one from colemans.

My offence was parking stradelling two bays in an empty car park

I am will continue to ignore these letters, but its good to know what stage im up to. I did want to check that this last one wasnt any more serious than the previous
