Had a similar call this week, from some Indian sounding chappy 'claiming to be from mumble mumble claims department' asking about 'a car insurance claim in the past 3 years at my address'. Told him I hadn't made any claims (as I hadn't), did a 1471 and no number was available.
Decided to ring up my insurance company just in case something dodgy was going on, nothing on their records and they said it was probably a call centre touting for business."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -

I had a cold call from a company called Direct Claims, accent not identified, but number shown as "private number" on the display on my mobile. They referred to a national accident database, and an accident I was involved in on Friday. This was clearly not random. I am insured with Aviva, and they have not passed my details, or details of the accident, on to anyone - they do have my mobile number. The other party did not have my mobile, though did have other details. I have recently changed my mobile number, and omitted to register it with TPS, an omission now corrected. I selected that the number should be treated as exdirectory. They had been informed that the accident was no fault - an error, since technically, I was at fault, coming out of a drive obscured by parked cars. Actually, neither party was at fault, but I imagine the other party's insurance would not take that point of view.
I googled for this supposed database, and found this site. No database, but access to information about an accident with its date, and a supposed unavailable phone number seems to have been achieved by this suspect company. They are obviously still at it.0 -

Have you actually read this thread?
I suggest you do so - there is no such thing as the NAD and the whole thread is about being scam or cold-called by companies.
Suggest you try a HPI or vehicle check company.0 -
I just found this thread after searching for "National Accident Database". I had a minor accident on Monday, reported to my insurer and also gave my mobile number to the other party. On Tuesday I got a call on my mobile (didn't catch the name of the company she claimed to be representing) who quoted the "National Accident Database" (and some other database to do with insurance claims) at me, knew I had been involved in an accident the day before, new the make of my car and asked if anyone had been injured. This information can only have come from my insurer or from the other party or her insurer. No wonder premiums are so high when these leeches want to milk every minor scrape for whatever they can get.
Edit: needless to say, my insurers say they would never pass on this information. I am inclined to believe them and that the leak has come from the other party or her insurer.2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0 -
I just received by 3rd call in a month and about my 20th in the last 2 years from various cold call companies. This one was called A Solutions.
Every time a company calls its about an accident I had in 2010 and the fact that £3k is waiting for me to claim it. They either say they got my details from my insurance company or from the National Accident Database. Every time I ask them how they got my details and to delete my details from their files and refrain from calling me again.
This morning I asked the caller to let me speak to their manager and when he picked up the phone he confirmed his name as Liam Jones and said he was very busy and didn't have time to talk. I asked how they got my details and he said the National Accident Database. He said that my details would remain on that database for 3 years from the accident and during that time companies like his could use it to contact me.
I explained that his company has called me at least 3 times in the last month or so and each time asked that they delete my details from their files and no longer contact me. I asked him if he could now finally remove my details from the system and confirm they would not contact me again - he said he could not do that.
I asked for the name of the company, he said it was A Solutions. I asked whether that was the registered name or the trading name and he said it was both. I asked for the registered address of the company and he said it was Unit 1, Estuary Boulevard, Kent, KE16 2BJ. This address doesn't exist, however I can believe that (given the Liverpudlian accents) and the tendency to mix truth with lie, that the Estuary Boulevard (a "commerce park" in Liverpool) is where they are based.
If anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to end this cold call nightmare (worst when they call and I'm abroad!), I'd appreciate it.
Thanks
Parisa0
