Hi Wendz, just having a little catch up - you must be so excited for Saturday! I was behind a Focus most of the way to work this morning and thinking of you, they're really nice - OH wants one of the bright orange ones. Great news that it's only an extra couple of months on your debt too, you'll hardly notice it! It's got me thinking about scrappage again a bit, my car's been getting more and more unreliable and I have a horrible feeling that as soon as the scrappage money runs out it will break down completely and I'll have missed my chance. That's if there still is any available, haven't thought about this for a while!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

BUT you'd still be better off getting a 1 year old one Tete than one on the scrappage scheme, as any car looses about 1/3 of its value when its first registered, so unless the car is worth less than about £6k brand new, you'd be better off buying pre-owned?Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Arg, you now how confused I get!! And the fact that I feel so loyal to Bluey makes it harder. I guess either way I'd have to take about £1k from savings either to buy a new old car or to put a deposit on a new one so there's no difference there. I think it's this idea that I've missed out on a bargina that I don't like, even though I know it's not really a bargain! Gah!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

I think Dinah could be right there, you do lose a lot straight away. Obviosuly there are benefits to having a new car like that you don't have to have MOT's etc. You will have to try and balance it out and see whether it is worth it.
The Focus is 5 years old and about half the original price so shows it does drop a lot in the first few years.
I am very excited to get it although I had a dream last night someone stole it lol.
The clearasil stuff I have been using seems to be helping my skin, so will keep at that.
I am off home for the weekend tonight, got to get the train down but at least I can drive back! I am picking up my car in the morning, then in the afternoon am meeting up with my friend who is due in two weeks eek, and a couple of other friends for some tea and cake. Then Sunday I think I am going to OH's nieces birthday party, not sure what is happening yet. Should be a nice weekend and not too costsly apart from the train fair and petrol.0 -
Well done on the new car, it sounds great. Have a nice drive back in it at the weekend. Aww, have a nice time with your friend, bet you can't wait for her to have her baby, do you think it will make you broody? A lot of my friends are having babies are the mo, makes me worry maybe OH and I should start soon, don't want to get left behind.
Enjoy your weekend Wendz! Sounds like it's gonna be a good en!The very best things in life ... are free!

Yay, shiny new car
. I think you're right about the scrappage scheme, I've always thought it was a load of rubbish. The list price of my car new was 11k, but I bought it when it was 4 months old for 8k. I don't think I'd ever buy a new 'new' car if you get what I mean. I'm thinking of getting a new one in 2-3 years, but I'll probably get one a year or so old again.
