    • do something nice for me - ate two ferrets that I found in desk drawer from xmas:p.
:rotfl: for some reason this is what my mind read SM: thought you'd started using road kill for lunch:D

Marru - my morning mug reads: "I'm up and dressed, what more do you want?" :D . Well done on prioritising your personal energy expenditure & switching off the computer some evenings:T :it is easy to spend too much time on the darned thing, adictive as MSE is and not get proper chill out time (or get other jobs done!)

Skintchick -looks like you are changng your thinking on the mobile issue: being able to do those courses would be great and for me is the greatest motivator for this frugal living malarky, being in the fortunate position of not having debts: Re examine what you 'think' are essentials, cut back everywhere so you can have the life you want. Glad the time with your parents went well.
Lynne - congrats on your new status:D .
Nyk - you've got me thinking with this 'no money ' question. (reminds me of doing essays on Maslow's hierarchy of needs).I would certainly work far harder at making food stretch further, and every penny would be precious. The car would have to go. As would showers - daily strip washes would have to suffice.I'd also have to hone skills that would be in demand for a skills exchange scheme. The heating would be on less as would every light/appliance. A little limited in how far we can go with some of these now as I have lodgers who pay to have a comfortable life and form half of my income.

I soaked my shower curtain in bleach yesterday but the mould is still on it: any suggestions.
Also, what is the best way to store cake - if I use plastic tubs, does it cause the cake to sweat?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Sounds good deal on that amount - do what wendywitch suggested and pay that off then use the £10 a week to pay the other - you can have it cleared in no time. Also don't forget to cancel the standing order as it will continue paying the £10 week automatically until you cancel it, and unlike DD you will then have to deal with the company for refund.
    Reduce,re-use, recycle.

  • i can only drink from a mug with a white inside.............dark coloured ones make the coffee taste different..lol......

I agree, it tastes completely different! But I prefer my coffee in a mug with a coloured inside, the white inners are for tea! :rotfl:

Got a half price turkey crown in Iceland on Saturday (reduced because it said Christmas on the box, even though the best before date is 31st March  ) It says it feeds 12 - 15 but I've got 20 portions out of it! We had it roast on Sunday and in curry yesterday, the rest is frozen ready for whatever takes our fancy.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: sorry draw the line at ferrets - pheasants maybe but not ferrets.

Re the shower curtain - changed ours for a screen the other year but before that used to put it in washing machine on a boil wash with soda crystals and a little bleach. Used to get ours almost mould free.

Re Cake - Have both tins and plastic storage for cakes and both have been fine:D just make sure it is cooled properly before storing.

JAMIEDODGER - Think it is you who makes traybakes - the traybake tray and storage container from lakeland are great, means you can leave it in tray and just take it out when needed, which is useful if you make the iced topped type ones as they are awkward to stack without sticking together.

    Great place to start :T

Sorry about the job Andromache, glad there are more in the pipeline :T Good luck with the job interview tomorrow Marru, hope it goes well.
Nice to see you 2ndTR, it's interesting to see how everyone is getting on with their frugalising.
Good luck with paying off your debts Mumzy, it's such a great feeling to see those amounts going down and knowing you can put that money towards something else.
Nyk, sorry forgot to reply about the filing cabinets - I have spray painted mine with metal paint as it covers them well. I'll be doing them in cream this time as my walls are purple and they'll match the drawers under my desk.
Hi to everyone else, have a nice evening x

Just updated my sig..so im only saving myself £20 off the orignal price. Thats what they said i could have with a F&F of £135. If i say to them I only have £115 do you think they would accept? Or would that just be cheeky of me to ask?
    orignal debt is £155.73

    The other debt is £72.60

  • No harm in asking-if you don't ask-you don't get! And if you do get-you save money so you have nothing to lose.

  • Hi Everyone!!
Well 'February' started yesterday for me..but still waiting to be paid!!
Thank you for all your help with the chinese food for my class. The children loved it and were so polite saying it was delicious and thank you!! The school paid for the ingredients and I didn't need the rice I'd bought as the school cook used hers, swapped new veg with ours that needed using up, quite a bit of cabbage left too. We didn't need all the class rice either so bought it home for OH to eat with spicy mince and veg dish. More left but not sure if we can use that...Although you can reheat rice, can't you?
One of the parent's of the children with the nut allergy bought me a bottle of wine which was so sweet of her. Not necessary but much appreciated. And very unexpected, one of the parents of a child who I taught last year bought me some eggs and sausages (from their chickens and pigs they've reared). So a very lucky day!!
Off to catch up on posts. Have a good evening everyone!! SFT
