GASP! I have never managed to get out of IKEA without enough stuff to furnish a second home. Haven't finished reading all the posts yet, but just had to say that anyone who can spend £1.10 at The Swedish Store is heroic in my book....'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Sorry, me again. Thanks for all the advice about the rings, the message came loud and clear and I really appreciate it. :T Now I just have to look at my siggie as suggested,
and summon up the courage...
Nyk, you asked what I thought about Egg Money for stoozing. Do you mean the Egg Money card or the Egg money tool for keeping tabs on all your accounts? I looked on the Egg site but the only thing I can see good for a stoozer is the 'anniversary' offer on the regular Egg Card, is that what you meant?'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

After 7 years of waiting, I have finally been allocated a Housing Association House, and will get the keys next week, so wont be around for a while. I havent updated sig but I know I am under target so far, despite going slightly over on GC. Thanks to this challenge, i will now have enough to carpet the house and buy wardrobes and chests of drawers for the house before we actually live there, which i have been saving up for for years, but wasnt quite there. This will be the first time I actually have a wardrobe and chest of drawers for each person, and my eldest is 13! we share a large wardrobe in my room as other 2 rooms are too small to have anything other than a bed at the moment. And you have to sit on the bed to open the wardrobe, as room is too small. Smallest bedroom in new house is 10`4 x 10`7, which is bigger than my biggest room here, so will be able to put stuff away, rather than having piles everywhere that get messed up whenever DS13 (autistic) decides he wants to wear something he cant find.
I will be lurking still when time allows, and trying to stick to budget, will have so much to do wont have time to spend money. Furniture wont come out of budget for this challenge as ive been putting money away for years for this, and I will only be buying once, and am determined to keep new house tidy, which is kinda impossible with 3 kids and little storage in current house. until 3 years ago all clothes were in the fruit boxes from supermarkets, the ones that stack good. ive chosen good, sturdy, hemnes drawers from ikea that will last until kids leave home, ive waited long enough, and besides, theyre beautiful:j
HA house wont save us money for this challenge, as rent is not included, but when my bookkeeping course is finished and im working, will save us over £50 a week. will be stocking up on asda 2 for £1 cleaning stuff today as house is very dirty, and i love fairy liquid when i can afford it. will take me a month to clean the house first as its so bad, but will be worth it.Frugal living challenge 2023 £7500 for 2 adultsJanuary grocery challenge £60.55/ £2000 -
Kay - congratulations on the new home, hope you and your children will have many happy years there, hope you're going to rope them in on the cleaning session before you move in! **sending virtual champagne, chocs and pretty card for the mantelpiece**
Marru - good luck for the interview today
I have been reading the posts just haven't had the energy to reply or have been at work with too many people around, in these straightened times, have to look kean and eager even when the workload is light!
Yay it's Wednesday, half way through the week, and pay day on Friday. My ex has managed to give me some money this month, and has said he's now writing to his creditors (hmmm, wonder how long it will take him before he actually does, and given that I think at least 2 of them are threatening court action for specific sums of money to be deducted from his salary, will they listen? Is it too late for him?). Thanks to that, I can stave off my own financial ruin for another month, lol. Great news, as my car insurance and rescue service are due at the beginning of Feb.
Well, I would, if the roof hadn't lost a slate during the storms...my dad came down to try and fix it yesterday but it's up too high for him to do, so I have to find a friendly and cheapish builder quickly before the storms come back. Can't really have water pouring into the loft again
Am back on the waggon financially speaking, I think someone mentioned Mr T's value sweetcorn was down to 17p a can again - not in my local shop it isn't, I was so disappointed, DD would eat sweetcorn every day if I let her (we do rinse the sugary/salty water off before eating), she's my own jolly green giant0 -
