  • Day 23 - this has definately been the toughest week yet.

Had a run in with the HR department in work as they were offering me holiday entitlement which was less than the statutory minimum - and now i've raised it they are treating me like dirt....been really hard not to cry when they've been putting me down.

But putting that all behind me i have had a great month. Out of the £333.33 budgeted - i still have £82.47 which is brilliant!! Gonna stock pile this week with the extra money and put some aside incase i overspend next month.

If i hadnt have been doing this challenge i would have already spent about £400 this month so the challenge is definately helping!! My screen is just normal tonight...hope those who are having trouble get the screen colours back to normal as it must be hard to read with the differing colours?

I'm really enjoying reading all the posts and the support and ideas i am getting from everyone. I am now making more home made meals and feeling healthier and more energetic because of this.:j

I'm halfway thru on qype....only another 20 reviews to go. I have compiled a "to do list" as long as my arm for this weekend so going to get stuck into it tomorrow!! Only a few more days to payday as well which is something else to look forward to! Onions are on special at L!dl this week at 3 for 29p in my local one so need some onion meal ideas... help?!

Onions will keep for weeks in a cool, dry environment so don't worry too much about using them up quickly. Save your energy for the rest of the 'to do' list!!

The last lot I bought were whoopsies (so near dated anyway) several weeks ago and are still going strong kept in my larder
  • I just gave up 4 hours of my Friday evening to judge a competition for schoolchildren and one of the teachers came up to me and was very rude about the result I delivered and the feedback I gave even though the result was very clear and my feedback was, in my opinion, very detailed and helpful. She couldn't accept that her students just weren't very good!!! Normally I enjoy this kind of thing as I really enjoy feeling like I'm helping the children improve but I've been feeling really riled and stressed about it. I just can't believe she thought it was acceptable to speak to me like that, particularly when she clearly didn't know very much about the subject and I am very experienced and good at what I do. Manners cost nothing!!!   I did my best to be polite to her but I sort of wish that I had been more assertive! At least I am happy in myself that the children had a positive and useful experience, no matter what she cares to think!

    *and breathe*

I don't have time to comment properly but it's so nice to read through the posts on this thread where everyone is so lovely :o it's made me feel a bit better, lol. And it's good to vent! Sorry to hear people are causing you stress as well, ram_murdock. Hope it gets sorted with the minimum aggro.

I have an interview tomorrow in London - if I am successful I will get a free trip to Japan :D After the interview I'm going home for lunch with my parents, which will be nice.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend xxx

    Ram, how about

Onion marmalade - from Rachelle on MSE

    1.25kg onions
    3 tbsp salt
    1kg sugar
    500mls red wine vinegar
    2tsp caraway seeds
Chop onions cover with salt leave for an hour
    Rinse & dry
Add sugar, vinegar & seeds into saucepan; boil for 5mins then add onions. Cook for a couple of hours on a low heat until the mix becomes thick, onion translucent & brown. Can't go wrong.
    Put in sterilized jars.
    Yum
    Rachelle MSE

And it is, made either with ordinary onions or red onions. Goes great with cheese, cold meats, risotto .... I'll eat it with just about anything :rotfl:

  • savingfortravel: Regarding the nut allergy I'd be wary of cooking with sesame oil too as some folk who are allergic to nuts are the same with seeds.
