Adams haven't closed all their stores yet, so I'm assuming stock will have been moved to those that are still open (and their on-line site), hence reducing rent bills in the meantime

    Morning all,
Warm hugs to those who need them today.

I have to go to get some food shopping. I'm going to the Big City, :rotfl: our local name for the nearest town which is actually tiny but it does have an Iceland and an Aldi. I've not been in Iceland for years so I'll have a wander round to see what's what. The town also had a Woolies but I imagine that's gone now :(

I've got a list and I'm going to try so hard to stick to it. Hoping to find some cheap tins of tuna and baked beans somewhere.

Will update when I get back.
  • Well, I've just spent a good half hour on the phone to British Gas as I was told my prepayment meter prices were going to be reduced on 18th December so they were in line with quartly billing, turns out she was telling me porkie pies as I am on the social tarif and therefore can't go any lower. (You have to try your luck though.)

I actually love my PPM as I will never ever get a bill (used to get one around now in the region of £500).

Yesterday I had a great time buying whoopsies; 2 lots of celery, 2 bakery apple pies and some bakery bread for just over £1.50.

They had some scottish breakfast packs in there as well - unmarked, I went to ask the man when they were being marked down and he said later at 25%, but they were use by 6/1,(I was in the store at 8pm - 2 hours before closing time)

Is it me of are the shelf life in the reduced section getting shorter? I'm sure I used to get a least a day and a half with them.

    Anyway, today:-

    Update spending diary
Make celery soup from my bargain buy
Get rubbish ready for the dump (sorry, no bargains to rumage through - just cardboard and plastic from christmas).
Find a decent white bread recipe that works in my stupid non-panasonic breadmaker as it's doing my head in now.
Try and earn some online money (I'm thinking Slice the Pie here as already have £3, just need another £2 to cash out)
    DO some washing, and ironing

    That's all for now.

  • Good morning all very cold day here (but not quite as cold as some i'm sure) Not up to much again today as I have 2 assignments due in next week and I'm only half way through one :o

I asked DS1 what he would like for his birthday today he said he would like Indiana Jones figures and he would like 3 as "they do cost quite a bit, don't they" bless him. Well I hunted around true MSE style and found some 1/2 price and with gre*syP*lm cashback so I got him 6 :T

Better get back to my essay now. Hope everyone has a good day.

Dreamt about Bails having food deliveries from Iceland last night... Do you really have long red hair??? OMG:confused: SFT

:rotfl::rotfl:I do hope that was Iceland the country ;) I do have long hair but it's dark brown - I would be slightly spooked if you'd pictured me accurately :rotfl:EDIT: ah, I see it was in fact the country - cool, another place to tick off my list :rotfl:

As for money on the street, I pick up anything too - why not? - and OH is very good at spotting them for me :T

It's a good point about the recycling centre - I know for a fact ours (ie the one in the programme) doesn't let you take stuff out for free and OH has to pay to take stuff there! Like that's going to help flytipping let alone the planet *shakes head and mumbles*
Mumzy, I would put the £65 to one side for now but if Quidco have paid you then I'm almost certain they can't ask for it back. At the end of the day, Virgin is a massive company and I wouldn't feel too bad about benefitting from their mistake
Today is a ESD - Earn Something Day - as I have my first lesson since Christmas :T Well, at least it will be if the mum's ex ever pays me - what is it about exes and money  Better go and finish my prep for it, then I have an appointment later. Might try and fit in a little walk before that as it's a beautiful blue day here (if very cold). Have a good one everyone x

I'm just sitting down for a cuppa. I've actully managed to get some stuff done rather than just redoing my budget every 2 seconds!!
Housework room done, though I've got washing to put away and probably more to do.

I've just squished all my veggies together for bubble and squeak. I was going to make burgers but the mix is very wet so I'm not sure they'll stick together. I've added some eggs and flour hoping that would help. Its in the fridge at the moment. Whatever happens, thats dinner but it would be nice if it didn't end up looking like just slop on a plate!!
  • fizzel -i def think you should talk to your solicitor about your ex not paying. If you have an agreement he would pay half the debts he should pay them or pay more maintenance so you can pay them. It's admirable of you to want to pay everything and you are doing a great job debtbusting but it's his responsibility too. And you have your boys to think of. If he paid his share then you would have more to put aside for the boys future - which is the most important thing. I saw you said about considering cancelling the life insurance to save money - maybe have a look to see if you can get this cheaper. Most guidelines say you should add up your total income now, figure out what the boys would still get if you weren't around and make sure the difference is covered until they will be financially independent - age 21 after training/college or maybe 25 if you can afford it.

Congratulations on repaying one of your debts! You've made a great start to 2009.
