Good evening!
I can't believe how many posts there are - I had about 8 pages to catch up on. Ergh, it was such a shock to the system getting up at 6.30am this morning, especially as it is soooooo freezing. We has an INSET day today and even though the heating was "supposedly" on in school, everyone kept coats/hats/scarves on for most of the day. I get home to a freezing house and DH sitting at his computer wearing a sleeping bag!
Spending wise: today was MEANT to be a NSD and it would have been if I hadn't had a call from DH asking me to pick up eggs on the way home. I thought it would be prudent to get some dried milk powder as well as we are low so total spend £2.91.
My first forays into matched betting are going well. After the match I've got a bet/lay on this coming Saturday I'll be £25 better off and once Quidco have tracked it that'll be another £25!Lollopy,
Thank you for the website. I've been on it since you posted and have pulled off 61 quotes that I love so far, and shed a few tears along the way.
I'm glad you've found it useful Whitewing. Some of those quotes are so touching they make me a little weepy too.
Slowly fading: Best of luck with your PGCE application! I remember how exciting/scary it was starting the process! Do you go on the TES forums at all? http://www.tes.co.uk/community.aspx?navcode=14 Lots of excellent advice and support on there for prospective student teachers and all the stages beyond. I found it invaluable (and addictive) reading before starting my PGCE. I also loved my year, though it was an awful lot of hard work and not much sleep. I'm one term into my NQT year at the moment and loving it much more.~ Lexie ~The Minimoilist.Saving money and the planet at the same time.0 -

Got my leccy bill today - £298:eek:
I do pay gas by DD but simply haven't got round to setting up one for leccy. Quite a shock as I forgot it was due.
Oh well better pay it.0 -
£7.50 from Brighton to Portsmouth is excellent. I go from Winchester to Southampton which is ten miles each way and thats £6.00 for a return. Bus fare is so expensive.
Was thinking about that on the work today, now that petrol has gone down a lot and the Govt want people to stop using their cars, shouldn't they lower bus fare?! Not that i can see that ever happening!!
Off now to catch up with the several pages from today already!
Neither can I, got bus to college this morning and a day saver has jumped up 50p. So now £4 for a day saver.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0 -

I'm still here! No sign of my frugal-teeny yet...thank god! Just joined the flylady challenge and have stuff to do!
Was my first official day of maternity leave today. Felt like I was skiving off work, it was terrible! (I'm sure I'll get used to it really quickly!) Spent £21.50 doing a Food & Hygiene Course (about £60 cheaper than doing it at the local college and always useful to have!) so if you want to know anything about storing and reheating food, I am now a fountain of knowledge! (for about an hour before the baby brain kicks in and I've forgotten it all!)
However, I did take my own sandwiches and so didn't spend £5 on the lunch they were doing
For those that are interested...Chocolate contains seratonin which is the same stuff that's in prozac....(about the only thing I remember from my degree - it was a degree in pharmacology, not chocolate by the way!)
Also - stationery fetishes...I am a paid up member of stationery anonymous (or I would be if it existed!) I blame my mother as she is just as bad. I also "save" notebooks as I don't want to mess them up and I can't stand crossing things out! I'm also as bad with cards....to the point where I had so many cards from Phoenix Trading that I became a trader so I could have them in the house but also make some money from them!! And my mother? She makes me wait to unpack deliveries so she can put them all in the little cellophane bags! No wonder I'm mental!!!Jonathan Douglas born 20th January 2009 - 9lb 4oz

I'm cynical but the pre arranged meetups with the freegan and the bloke who cooked plants wouldn't happen with an average homeless person. He would still have been hungry by now:rolleyes: "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Fizzel, excellent news on paying of the debt, sounds like your on a roll.
Good luck slowly fading with the PGSE. Sounds like theirs lots of teachers on here. I used to work in a school but swapped it for a pre school instead, who probably think i am the wicked witch!
Pip, well done on your win, a win is still a win!
Well today has been a NSD and in fact i made money to day as i did a mystery shop and got free tea. I love being paid to eat out!
I also left the car at home and walked the two miles each way to town and back, saved on petrol and parking costs.
I have also been given a bike on freecyle so i will be picking that up tomorrow and then will start using it once or twice a week to ride to work. Planning to do it more during spring and summer but too cold at the mo, will all help with living costs this year though!:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j
