My arms were getting longer and weaker so I invested in a shopping trolleyDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
Hi everyone
Another teacher here! and one that is off sick from work today.Feeling very guilty about it but what can you do! Better to stay in bed, get better and not spread it around. More work for the supply teachers. On the up side, I save at least 2 day's worth of petrol (around £20) as I am not going in tomorrow.
I live on my own and really need to go to Tesco for bread and milk and butter but really can't find the energy to drag myself into clothes and out to the shop (Tesco is actually my most local shop) Luckily I don't really have an appetite today.
Has anyone ever used www.stuff2send.com. I heard about it on the radio before christmas. You link up with other people and if you need a courier you ask someone who is going that way anyway to take it and they get a fee. I think it's quite new. Was wondering about implications of being a courier re: car insurance. Presumably I would also have to declare to Inland revenue.
Anyway, off to find some paracetamol and make myself a hot diluting juice drink.

Oh my, can't believe how much I have spent already. All those cheap gifts got the better of me i think!!! Hopefully it'll pay off later in the year when things are all bought!
Am resisting a lot of impulse buys, although I was back at work and walked straight past the sweetie shop without going inAlso avoiding Mr Ts as the last few times there have been far too many whoopsies and they keep ending up in my freezer
It's amazing how it all adds up really, I suppose it was always those impulse buys that took up lots of the money. Can't believe how tight i'm getting! No more "mr nice guy" living here anymore lol.
Better go put my "whoopsie" beef in the oven before. Mmm just what is needed on a chilly day.
Bye for now

My car has passed it's MOT no problem :T
Many posts ago I mentioned that I had a swimming pool in the front of the car after heavy rain. Turns out it is a well known fault with this model.
I stamped my little MSE foot and demanded a refund but they wouldn't bite as it is 6 yrs old
Was worth a try
Friendly local mechanic has attempted to seal the offending leaking bit
I think they are frightened of me
Fell upon the sales and was forced , kicking and screaming, to purchase a new duvet. It was reduced from £95 to £42.50 and I am fed up of being cold in bed with no DH to keep me cosy so I succumbed.
Had to borrow a crowbar to prise my purse open but it was no match for a Frugalite confronted with a bargain :rotfl:
I am now sneezing and coughing and think that I have contracted something nasty from being amongst humans instead of staying by the fire with the cats.
I bought the cheapest cough linctus I could find in anticipation of being indisposed.
Regrettably I have spent more than I intended today but have got some bargains.
Have tranferred money for my first quarter's budget into my new Household Savings Book and will try to have a few NSDs now.
Off to put my new duvet on the bed, have a soak in a hot bath and then settle down with cats, TV and chocolate as latest research has shown that chocolate reduces the chance of developing dementia and depression so it is purely medicinal0 -
Good evening everyone!
Well, I had a hectic weekend of work and then visiting a friend for the night, and then back to work. Its been quite quiet in town though, so work hasn't been very exciting. I just keep thinking of the moneyand hopefully it'll pick up soon.
I've updated my total, as I did some food shopping on saturday, and had a small bill to pay at work as well. So, obviously is has to go up! But I'm not concerned at the moment, its all going well as far as I'm concerned. My budget works out at just over £8 per day, and hopefully I'm going to be able to stick to it
I taught my first piano lesson this afternoon! :T it was to a lovely 8 year old and it went really well, even though I was so nervous beforehand! He found me funny (wonder why  ) and I'm looking forward to next week, to see if he's been practising

Janey, this is excellent news! I must try same (minus the new duvet as I bought mine before Christmas :rotfl: ) so I'm sure of being immune to both these scurges.
I've now typed up my freezer contents inventory and confessed my sins in the grocery challenge thread.I had been considering going shopping tomorrow, as DS was uttering the dreaded, 'nothing in the house for eating' phrase. Well, there'll be NO SHOPPING for me, I discovered enough in the freezer to make meals until at least the end of the month. I'm ashamed of myself! :rotfl: Have now decided that I MUST make some extra effort to learn how to meal plan properly. No matter how badly I do it at first, I [STRIKE]shall[/STRIKE] WILL persevere!
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
