Hello everyone, we were so excited this morning to get up to SNOW
Thought I was never going to get DD in the car to go to nursery, bless her.
Forgot to make any lunch so am eating apples like there's no tomorrow, but will have to venture out in a mo to get the Sun for the holiday voucher. Think I might cheat and class the day as a NSD if that's all I end up buying....
Am feeling despondent as my mortgage advisor has been in touch about getting a new deal when mine runs out at the end of Feb. The index value of my house is now £50k under what I'm trying to sell it for (having already dropped £30k off the price over the months), someone at work explained to me what it means and it's all very depressing.....
Oh well, at least we've got SNOW and I'm eating healthily, I didn't run to the chocolate machine when I got the mortgage man's email, the desire to not waste money on sugary carp is still strong
Shame on you NYK for not buying the pony, you could have made a fortune in pony rides for toddlers - I took DD a couple of times over the summer, £12.50 for 30 mins doddle over the downs, she was in pony heaven. Ok, Brighton to Scotland might have been a bit far to come.....0 -
I'm having a NSD today,as am trying to clean this pigsty and take the deccys down:rolleyes: I hate cleaning but don't mind cooking
Anyway NYK i'm sulking about the pony now:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

So much for NSD
Was studying and looking out at the lovely sun and snow and decided to go for a walk which led me to the newsagents which forced me to buy a mag and some chocolate...total spend £3.08.
I could kick myself
It's the impulse buys that are knocking me for six...
I know - don't take my purse out next time :mad:0 -
Hello Frufan No 1 here reporting for duty:D
For those who ahem like stationery I have just parted with one of my frugal pounds in Poundland to buy a pack of 16 cards with the most gorgeous pictures of cupcakes on them [don't ask me why but cupcake pictures cheer me up no end they're so pretty] which I thought would make good cards for many occasions. Well that's how I justified it anyway.
OK back off to lurkdom and reading!!

Had a shop in the community day today...........
I have a bad neck problem at the mo and can't carry anything so me and my shopping trolley hit a local high street
I like the idea of shopping at the greengrocers butchers and bakery but hate carrying it all
Having a crafty afternoon
See you soon

Afternoon fellow frugalists
My big bug-bear about today though is bus fare - cost me and DD £10.50 return  - this is something I need to address because every time I want to go somewhere during the day I have to get the bus. I got rid of my car when we moved down here to save money (hubby has company car) but I do miss it when I just need to pop into the next town to get things like school trousers. I know i'm saving more money by not having a car but bus fares are so high ! They don't make it 'enticing' for people to use public transport do they ??
Sorry, rambled on a bit there didn't I?
Plans for the rest of today:-
Sort out washing - put a load on and hang up/iron what is dry
Post Dad's card
Change bed and put new quilt on (bought in the sales before Xmas)
Change DD1's bed
Post RM survey letters (free stamps with that one which come in very handy !)
Do you know anyone-maybe at school who pops into town ocassionaly? Maybe beg a lift? Carshare-pay for the carpark or whatever? A lot of people are far more willing to do this in the last couple of years Ive found. As you say-£10.50 is indeed a lot of money. How far is it? sometimes a taxi is cheaper!
Asda direct have clothing online and their delivery charges are reasonable too. So do M & Co and probably Tesco and many others-when its just a few items sometimes its easier to have it delivered.
Ive been tempted to give up my car in the past but for the same reasons I havent-public transport is too expensive and unreliable.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
Good [STRIKE]morning [/STRIKE] afternoon frunchkins:D
Back to work today, and really struggling to get in work mode after a week off:o Have just cooked brunch for oldies and now come up to have lunch hour and catch up with what you have all been up to this morning. No idea how I am going to keep up with the thread now I am back at work:rolleyes:
Managed to cook about half the sprouts last night and bag into family sized portions for freezer, will be using more tonight with tea then hopefully get last of them batch cooked later on.
My general aims for today are:- try and get back into work mode:eek:
- make a loaf in breadmaker
- finish processing sprout mountain:p
- join Nyk on the "fitter not fatter" challenge and make time to go swimming
- reduce. reuse or recycle at least one item - todays item - printer to charity shop - OH just got new one from my dad - nothing wrong with his but new one accepts photo cards
- Do one thing just for fun - come on here in lunch hour:D
- OJ, muesli,fruit
- seeded bread with grilled bacon and tomatoes
- 100% salmon burger (no bun) with 3 veggies and couscous
Today's extra income/ expenditure
No spend day
Catch up with you all again later:D0 -
Just having a break from Ironing, done 2 black bags full, two to go.
I am very lucky with bus travel as the children get a free bus pass as they are both in reciept of disability living allowance, (one is on the Autistic spectrum and one has global development delay).
It saves me £3.50 a day, (my elder son go's to a specialist school in the afternoon's so I don't need to collect him as they bring him home on the bus).
From today I am going to use the money I've saved towards my credit card (the biggest and last of my major debt), I've worked it out and if I pay them what I save a month (£70) + my minimum payment (£50) then I might just manage to put a dent in the stupid thing. (I don't use it, just paying it back).Payment a day challenge: £236.69

bit of advice needed
is it okto buy from adams online? there school trousers are half price (3.99 a pair in both ds sizes) i am not going to find anything smaller than age 3 for ds2 who will be 4 when he starts school in september (sounds silly but i know he will get a place where his brother go's) but he is still in 12-18 months so even with a growth spurt there still going to be a tad big in september so they will get used, if i go ahead and buy i then only need 2 fleeces for ds1 who will be in a bigger size, 2 sweatshirts for each 2 bookbags and 1 pe kit to have them both kitted out in september, i may not need the sweatshirts yet if ds2 wears ds1's (i shruk them so had to buy ds1 more but got them a bit big)
anyway long story short is it kinda ok to buy online from adams?DFW nerd club number 039'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' :money: i will be debt free aug 2010

I personally wouldn't risk it. Lots of people lost money with Zavvi over gift vouchers and this would be similar. Handing over money without getting the goods is a risk in my opinion as you are gambling on the (unknown) policy of the administrators. Tesco and Asda both do very cheap uniform anyway in the small sizes so I would wait if you don't need stuff right now0
