I was just thinking too.. I may come a little unstuck with them..

Because I cant actually find anything on my paper work that is a 'paying in' account number.
So I don't know what account number to set a standing order up to.

and they are hardly likely to give me one...

    Hmmmmm.....

Well... stinking Hitachi Capital (DFS Sofa) wrote me a 2nd letter today.

When I sent my first letter/offer/token payment.. :lovethougI got a (fast!) reply back saying.. No chance.. we want it NOW.

    (Grrrrrrrrr!)

Sooo... I sent them the 'Please reconsider' template letter..

I just got a reply to that.. and its exactly the same letter as the first one.. (haha) Saying Nope!.. NOW LADY!!! Or the Rottweilers and hench men are comin!

haha.. errrm.. they didnt say that really.. But.. it wasn't very friendly.. just repeating that they do not accept my offer.. and if I dont pay it NOW.. then they are defaulting me.. and passing me to a DCA..

    Anyhooo..

What I am thinking of writing now is a.. 'Go on then.. Clearly you are mean and horrible unlike my other LOVELY creditors..
So lets cut the junk out and just default me' ..

What do you think? .. (Cocker?.. I know you will read this later haha!)..
Obviously I will re word that a little.. ;)

    Hi

Very new at all this but sure I've seen a bit about this on National Debtline, basically if they reject your 1st & 2nd attempts, there were two letter templates - 1st saying basically ok then bring it on, and the other little more subtle. If you cant track down let me know & I'll see where I saw them.

Totally empatize with you Momma, we have some very loaded friends and used to find the amount they could splash about a bit galling at times. But when we finally admitted to them a few weeks ago how bad things were with DH business, they have been fantastic, really supportive. We were both a bit ashamed before to mention how bad things were, probably because they are such good business people, but couldnt have got it more wrong. They say "we've all been there" and their advice has been invaluable.

So many people out there having debts problems, at least if you are on here you are doing something about it.

Getting hubbie on the right road hopefully, it will be a long hard slog but we'll do it. Just wish some companies would just give you a bit of a break, it's not like you're trying to stitch them up just need a little bit of co-operation and things can get sorted.

Good luck with Hitachi - they sound as pleasant as Scottish Power :0)

i agree - social life now consists of going round friends for dinner - once a month visit to the pics and if anything crops up like a meal out - our friends are like yours bigmommapoppet - look at £100 for a meal out!

sorry - no can do this any longer - i'm lucky as my best friend is in a v similiar situation - we do have other friends who are constantly asking' shall we book for this? etc - - i agree its getting a nightmare but i'm sure we'll get used to it!

have 10 years on our dmp..........................will be a pair of hermits by then.

BTW -got a letter from RBOS - same as Eupho's - seemed very nice and sggesting payment plan - too good to be true methinks??

    Hi all!

Been lurking for ages and post occasionally on the boards but thought I'd say hi to everyone!

I had my LBM in April 2004 and spoke to CCCS straightaway and ever since then I've been on a DMP with them. They have been absolute stars and I'm aiming to be debt free in 2 years or so - just in time to hopefully start a family!

Yes, it's a struggle at times and I do occasionally fall off the wagon a little but they have always been totally understanding and helped me wherever possible!

So stick with it guys - I have been healthier and happier without the DCAs harrassing me and I know you will be too!

I thought that too - and believe me there are days where I stomp around the house screaming I HATE BEING IN DEBT much to the puzzlement of the cat!!!

But everyone has good days and bad days on DMPs and the good days will always outnumber the bad. Once the payments are in place and you stop getting those horrible letters you wake up feeling like the world may quite like you, and your pulse stops racing every time the phone rings - miles better for the health, both mentally and physically.

I still manage the odd "treat" - if I don't spend as much on petrol for example (I have quite a commute to work as I'm a Uni teacher one day a week in Newcastle and live in Yorkshire so in holidays I save) I will put the spare into CCCS BUT will allow myself a £10 "slush fund" which will either bail me out in a few months time or allow myself that skinny latte when I'm out shopping with friends. And watching other people spend is quite therapeutic in a way as they hammer the cards... You think to yourself ah well, I don't have to pay that!!!

    Hi Rach :T

its so nice to hear positive stories - had my LBM in April & this site is like my saviour - i know we can get through it - i actually want to budget & see my bank a/c in credit!!!!

yes its depressing not being able to spend - but where did that get us? me & hubby would go to Bluewater shopping centre knowing the cards were nearly full - but always thought 'next month we'll pay more' - never happened.

still on early stages with dmp - cccs have been fab but am thinking of doing it myself as work for a bank and their debt can't be on a dmp.

Like Eupho tho - debt free in about 10 years! :rotfl:i know its not a laughing matter but what else can i do - sit in a corner & rock??? (mind you - have done that on occasion)

    thanks again hun

    Good Evening!

I cant see what harm it can do. I tried something similar in long running battle with a DCA, but it never budged them. They did eventually agree to my terms when I issued a CCA request though, even though they insist that they have a valid credit agreement!

I see you have sent off all your CCA requests today. Wait until you get any sort of reply from that before sending it off, as you'll have a better idea of where you stand with them.

Anyway, being defaulted and passed to a DCA isn't a bad thing. They will probably accept the repayments. But remember, they CANT sell the debt on to a third party if they default on your CCA request!;)

If they do, the ball is firmly in your court!

    Cocker:)
